The Look !!

Hi guys, I was at the grocery store yesterday evening doing the normal stuff and this really gorgeous young lady, mid 20's, gave me the look. I am close to 3 years out and I am use to the fact that people treat me different than when I was 375. I am pretty well use to it or I thought I was.

This young lady caught my eye right away and she glanced at me so I kind of looked away thinking when she turned the other way I would check her out a little better and not be so obvious. Every time I looked her way she looked back at me, so on about the third time I smiled  and spoke. Well that is when she returned my greeting and gave me that look. Now you are probably asking, what look are you talking about. Just out of high school I lost about 60 or 70 pounds and was just a little bigger that I am now. I basically turned into a **** It was 1977 and sex wouldn't kill you then. When I use to go to bars it didn't take to long to identify the women that was to be had. They would give you that look. I guess I could tell the ones that was interested. In the store yesterday I had that same feeling about her, may have been totally off base but that fact she spoke and paused and flashed that grin made my evening. I have been married 27 years and have a great relationship but I can see how some one would be tempted.

That is so awesome!  Something for me to really look forward to.  If it was me, I would have probably missed "the look" from the lady, just cuz i'm used to ignoring all of the negative looks I used to get.

But you left us all hanging.  Did you just exchange greetings, or was there more...

All we exchanged were smiles and greetings.

Got a good woman at home. Over the years when friends of mine would meet my wife for the first time they seemed to be amazed how good looking she is. I would just smile and say makes you wonder doesn't it?

When I first lost the weight...I got "the look".  It really threw me for a loop the first few times.  Beautiful women who would have months earlier walked passed...and given me extra room...like I was a pervert or something.  I bought some new, nicer fitting, fashionable clothes...stood taller...made eye contact...spoke with confidence...the women started flirting...beautiful women...that was the kicker.  Like you Pan, I am happily married...but it was a bit of a shock.  Brian  PS  My wedding ring was falling off...so I got my wife's OK to take it off for a few weeks till my weight stabilized...then get it resized.  Add that to the mix!!

You know when I was pre-op I got flirted with every now and then because I was always "football player" big...Post-op I been flirted with some too.  Nothing to brag or boast about but the thing is I've got a great wife.  We've been through a lot in 13 years and with both of us having the RNY in April, 09 it's brought us even closer.  There's no woman that could mean as much to me as my wife and I'd never do anything to ruin our relationship.  It is nice to get noticed every now and then though.

Err  what is "the look", exactly?

Maybe THAT'S my problem - "Look Recognition Disorder" ?

Could be they ARE interested, but I just don't realize it ..

But seriously, congrats Panner ..   You're doing great and are an inspiration to all of us on the MF, dude ..

It was the " I can be had look". Don't know how to explain it, but if I got this certain look I knew it was there for the taking.

Since dropping weight, I get second glances and smiles and such, but the woman at the store the other night really knocked my socks off.
