I am 4 weeks out.  I have lost 52 pounds.  Glad of that, but seem to be so down.  This is the HARDEST thing I have ever done.  Just trying to eat so very slow, and not drink, do my protein shakes and take the vitamins.  Did anyone else feel down for a while and wonder if you even did the right thing?  I wanted this so bad, and know I can't go back.. but it is HARD.  I have NO desire to make love to my wife.  Is this normal?  Things didn't work too well before surgery and we were looking forward to AFTER surgery for things to be better.  Will it get better?

My wife and I have always had a normal sex life, now that I am 6 months out I want it even more...not that i get it more often, but once a day is still pretty good.  I know that I am getting hard as easy as I did when I was a teenager and that there are a lot more positions we have been able to do.

Well   did you suffer from depression before ?? If so go the your Dr                 it is common when you lose weight as fast as you have . There are a lot of hormones stored in fat.  When you lose weight that fast they flood the body faster then the body can handle it . This too will pass .
As for the sex part ; soon enough your wife is going wonder if you are EVER going to get the F--K off her and go do something eles . LOL
Things WILL get back to normal soon enough. This is just a ruff spot in the road thats all . It does go back to normal ( what ever normal is for you )
I  had quit a bit of depression  right about  four or five weeks out same as you .
I never EVER had depression problems before , And I dident know HOW to handle it. Right about the time when I thought I was going to blow up or something really bad ( or really stupid ) it went away .
My point is, dont let it get that bad before you do something about it. If it is getting to that point GO SEE YOUR Dr

Real men do cry , just not for no reason LOL LOL

Good health and best wishes

A couple of things.  One is buyer remorse...or "What have I done to myself"???  That passes with most people, esp as they see the results more and more.  Spending 20 minutes to eat 2-3oz can drive you bonkers...but in a few months most peoples pouches streach...so you should be able to eat more...then you wish you were back to 2oz.
Also what many guys don't realize is that their body is releasing estrogen...Yes, you heard me right estrogen!!  It is in your fat cells.  It can really throw many guys for a loop.  Guys who were not very emotional soon become emotional.  Sex drives go bonkers.  For say 95% of the guys it will pass.  If not go see the doc.  I know my blood flow increased because of the weightloss.  Hang in there...we're here for support.  Brian

Ditto to what the fellas have said. Try to keep positive thoughts in your head and focus on the good things rather than the negative. There are a lot of things happening in your body right now. Everything will get better each day as your system adjusts and settles in to the "new" you.

I have had depression and a lack of sex drive for quite awhile until in 2005 I had a nervous breakdown. My doctor checked my testoserone. She said if it was low it could contribute to my depression and lack of libido. The level is supposed to be @ 300. Mine was 52. The Urologist prescribed hormone supplement. Andro Gel is a clear gel I put on every morning. I had to go off it before surgery and stay off it for six weeks afterwards. My depression got worse and my sex drive disappeared. After six weeks I started back on the gel and I'm back to normal again. Have your hormone levels checked.
