OT venting re: people that owe me money
[rant] So I sold a business and took a note back, and bought a business and gave a note to the former owner. These are legitimate honest real small businesses.
The guy who owes me is 4 months behind on payments. I am current on all of my payments on the new business, but my cash flow in that venture is funneled through a franchisor, who was wrong on my first payment and is now late on the second payment. Oh, and I just found out that dear wifey is pregant .
I'm about to open a can here. Good thing I can't eat my sorrows anymore!

Tough one. As soon as you said franchisor...I'm thinking "you've got problems". So many of the franchisee-or's contracts are written to their advantage. I carried back a note on my farm...the baloon was last year...thought I would have to take it back. But they came through just at the right time...Then the recession hit!! I don't know if you have seen this website but I always found it interesting...
They may be able to help you on the franchisor situations...Concerning the note...If you are in a trust deed state...start the process. Also bite the bullet and spend $100.-$500. and talk with an attorney...see your options and what might be the best form of action to take. Well bear, I feel your pain. I am owed a pile of $$$ and wifey is owed another pile. My cash flow is so bad I cant pay attention let alone all my bills on time. My major bank notes are with a bank thats going to belly up soon. Just hope the new bank continues the "good will". My wife's note is performing well at 9% int only. My notes and invoices are graded so low that "junk" would be great. Got 3 winable court dates, but I wont live long enough to benefit from wage garnishments. Go figure.
But , I seem to make good $$$$ sharking to the locals. Good juice in todays market.
As far as the pregnancy is concerned, I'd play the lotto, sell amway, lemonade, whatever. Thats another 300k charmed 2 legged blessing coming plus college. Buy Citicorp common. LOL
