Well, I was having a crappy day and then my mom called me this morning. My brother had been dating a lady for about the last 1 1/2 years. She lived with him and my niece and nephew and she has a few kids that live there also. Well her 17 year old son has been having some issues. He did not like the rules at my brothers house so the deal was go by the rules or move out. He roomed with my 12 year old nephew until he moved out. Well he hung himslef last night. I am in complete utter shock. I feel so bad for his mom.  My little nephew has been having  some problems himjself and I feel so bad for the little guy. This has will devestate him. He looked up to charlie like a older brother. I hope they get him some counciling. I was woried about him enough that me and my wife took him camping a few weeks ago and explained to him that suiced was not the anser. All problems pass.
He had left some stuff up on myspace which is what concerned us about suicied. So I just ask for those you believe in the lord to pray for my family in this time of need.  May he lay hands on them during the time.
Thanks and God bless,

Jamie

P.S. What makes a young kid or adult for that matter think that things are just that bad. All problems get easier to deal with over time.

that's awful, man.  I am so sorry for your nephew and future sister in law.   My best friend's brother killed himself a few years ago, and basically you are powerless in this situation.  Just be there for 'em.

Prayers going out to you and yours.

Jamie, even as a minister there are no words that can come close to expressing how horrible this is.  My prayer is that all will sense God's comforting presence in some way during this heartbreaking and seemingly senseless time.

Thanks guys for the thoughts. I just feel so bad for his family. I feel the loss but not nearly what they are feeling. I went to his myspace page and was disturbed to see that for his expression he had the following at 8pm last night. "Attempted suicde is a failure at failing. I will not fale at this. Im going to die tonight. Not sure when everything happened but I sure hope that none seen this and thought nothing of it. Just wish someone would have seen and stepped in.
Again thanks for the thoughts and prayers.

I feel sorry for your entire family.  Prayer is the best solution for those of you not directly affected.  I encourage you to just let your brother and his family know that you are available in a non-judgemental way if they just need someone to talk to.  This may be especially important for your nephew.

Ast to suicide, I've never attempted it but I have thought about it in the distant past.  Just thinking about it scared me.  However, it is possible to become suddenly severely depressed.  I've had that happen to me several times and I immediately panic.  Luckily, I have people I trust that I can call in an emergency--my wife and my brother.  They are not trained to help me but they can convince me to call a mental health professional.  I usually don't have to go that far--just talking to them gets me out of the sudden deep despair.  Mind you that I already take anti-depressants.  If this happens only occasionally, I mention it to my shrink on my next appt.  But if it starts to happen more often, I'll call him to change my meds.

I can say from past experience that I wish I could pray when that situation occurs.  But, sudden despair can be paralyzing.  Therefor, I suggest that we all develop a more productive prayer life.  And, more importantly, if we notice anyone who has a change in behavior, just talk to them.  If you perceive that they may need help, suggest that they first talk to their primary physician since there are many physical conditions as well as side effects of meds that may have adverse mental effects.  Or, suggest that they speak to their religious leader or advisor.  The religious leader may be able to offer thm some solace and will probably still refer them to a doctor or therapist.  It doesn' hurt to cover all of the bases.
