Is this normal
Everyone is different. My wife and I had RNY 15 days apart. She hated the protein shakes where I tolerated them much easier. She threw up her calcium pills several times and I never did. She had more "head hunger" than I did. She really had cravings post-op. They finally eased up on her. I started eating Salmon, Tuna, and Chicken after about two weeks with my Surgeons approval. They want us to be on pureed foods for one month post-op. The biggest thing that I can tell you is to eat slowly and chew thoroughly.

I also felt the same I did not have any of the issues other people had experienced . Like issues with the pills or nausea. The biggest hole above my belly button did start seeping a little fluid and it scared me but some gauss and it stopped. My best bud gave the Magic Bullet blender and it helps allot pre op and post op . One of the things that concerned me is that I do not have any type of dumping when I eat sugar ! not that that is bad but that I have to control myself . during my first week I would sneak a Cheeto puff just to satisfy the craving of something other then broth. Take your vits and fiber !!!! its hard when you feel your trying to pass a door knob ! good luck keep on chooglin !

First let me say follow what your surgeons instructions. Mine gave me detailed list of how long to do clear liquids and so on. I did clear liquids for 2 weeks, full liquids for 3 weeks and blended foods for 2 or 3 weeks. If your surgeon or his staff, "nutritionist", didn't give you detailed instructions I would be calling them and asking about some.

Thank You all for your Input I havent started incorporating anything yet I was just wondering when you all started and what atleast for men was the normal for what you could handle and what kinds of things you could eat I am really just looking for suggestions. I will follow what my surgeon and dietician suggest cause I do not want any complications. But thank you for your responces
You've probably found out by now that every surgeon and every nutritionist has a different take. Some on the board had to stay on liquids for six weeks - I was on clear liquids in the hospital (started the day after surgery after a leak test, and lasted into the next day), full liquids for a week, and pureed foods eight days after surgery. But that is how my surgeon handles things. Why there is so much variance in pre-op and post-op protocols, I don't know, but the good advice you've already heard and acknowledged is to stick with your surgery center's plan.
