Anal Sphinter Spasms

Anyone had anal spasms after surgery?  I'm 6 weeks post-op and the pain is killing me.  Went to the surgeon last week and was give suppositories, antibiotics, immodium, and Narcoctic pain killer.  Put up with it for a week and went to my family doc who gave me a Lidocaine injector and nitro paste.  Today was the best I've felt for weeks.

Both docs say it is a result of a change in diet.  Anyone else experience it?

No.  You may want to try on the Main Board...You get a lot more cross sections of different ailments there.  I had IBS before WLS, but it went away after a few weeks.  Brian  PS  IBS can also be called Spastic Colon sometimes...Don't know if that is the same thing or not.

get yourself to a colon rectal surgeon. It could be an anal fissure if there is that much pain. The lidocaine and nitro should help, also ask for an oral muscle relaxer. Warm sitz baths or a shower (if you have a hand held shower head) after every BM help. The warm water helps loosen the muscles. If the problem does not resolve itself the col/rec doctor can give you botox injections into that area.

im a little late coming into this conversation, but i agree with the poster above.  i have an anal fissure and it hurts like h*ll!!  i feels like im pooping acid or trying to pass glass through my butt!  unfortunately its one of those things where "time heals all wounds", only this time its a physical wound!  the doctor gave me some lidocaine.  it takes the edge off the pain, but it still hurts!  i just read about something online where wheatgrass cream is good for anal fissures.  im going to look into getting some of that!  hope youre doing better now!!
