First I want to take everyone for the warm welcome.

Last Night I went to the Seminar at the Bariatric Center near where I live for the introduction and overview of the procedures.  It reconfirmed that I am making the right decision and now I wish I would have made it sooner.  I was leaning towards the RNY, from everything I have read it made the most sense.  The surgeon that did the QA, is the same surgeon I have and appointment with on the 11th of next month, confirmed that given everything else healthwise that the RNY would be the best option for me.

I will be attending the next 2 support groups at the hospital.  One is for general surgery and the other is for Bypass patients.

I know I have lots of questions but it is kind of hard to put them into words at this point, as I am trying to work through my fears.  My biggest fear is one of failure,  I have tried to get to a reasonable weight and have failed.  The last thing on the document detailing the steps was that if any weight was gained the surgery would be rescheduled, which weighs really heavy on me.

Paul -

You are making a fantastic commitment to begin and follow this process.  So here's how to overcome your fears:  follow the process.  Do what the surgeon and nut tell you to do - remembering that many people before you have done it and it is NOT impossible.  Your days of cheating, rationalizing, and starting tomorrow are over.  Follow the process ... live the process ... be the process.  And you WILL be on the loser's bench.
Onward and DOWNward,

Hey congratulations! It took me 4 years to finally make up my mind about surgery. About 1.5 years ago I weighed 340 and tried weigh****chers. I got down to 315 and... well about six months later I was at 380. That finally triggered it, I had to do something that would work. I just weighed myself this morning and I'm at 299 for the first time in many years. Already down from size 46 pants to 42 and size 4x shirts to 2x. I couldnt be happy at this point.
Max: 380, Pre-Op: 346
