A County Fair FART
Our county Kiwanis clubs staffs the ticket booths at our county fair - one of the largest in Ohio. One role that our club has is to supply the "roamer", the person who goes from gate to gate giving restroom breaks. One circuit around the perimeter of the fairgrounds is about 1.5 miles.
Last year, pre-surgery, when I would do two shifts in a day (usually a five-hour and a four-hour shift with five hours in between) as roamer, my dogs would be barking at the end of the day, my calves would be shot, and I would be more tired than I could ever imagine.
This year, post-surgery, I did two shifts today. 19,000 steps, right at 9 miles, and I feel like I could do two more shifts tomorrow. I think WLS did me a world of good here.
Or maybe it was the new insoles I put in my walking shoes.
