On the Fence
I saw the Dr about last week. He gave me the canned speech for both procedures. I am approved thru insurance. I am just waiting for them to call me back for a operation date. They said maybe the end of Sept or 1st week of Oct 09. As of right now i am going with the Lap Band. I really want the Sleeve but my insurance will not cover it, at least until there is a code for it. So I decided to give the Band a try and if it don't work out maybe I can revise to the sleeve at that time.

no one said anything about being a dead man... what most people on the mens board will tell you was without surgery, I would have been a dead man. I am like you in that I am scared. I chose the lap band because I know I can succeed with it. Neither surgery will do the work for you.
I AM ONLY SPEAKING FOR MYSELF WHEN I WRITE THE FOLLOWING:
I am a ***** I over react. I know that every twinge I felt would end up with me thinking i have a bowel obstruction. That is one of the main reasons I chose the band.

Hey Chad. We're practically neighbors. I live about 2 hours due west of you down US 67.
I looked at lap-band for several years and just never pulled the trigger. I decided to go RNY when one of the few guys in town who was fatter than me got one and dropped over 100 lbs in the first 4 months. Another selling point for me though was the fact that he had his done via the scope. I watched my wife recover from 2 Cesarian sections and I was afraid of being opened up. The first 10 days post-op were a ***** but since that time I haven't regretted my decision one iota. I went from 455 to 255 in about 11 months, and have since regained up to 280. But I'm on my way back down now through beinc careful what I eat and vigorous exercise. I went through a exercise routine today that burnt off about 1300 calories, and their is absolutely no way I could've done anything close to it for the 10 year prior to surgery.
Go for it.

The free man owns himself. He can damage himself with either eating or drinking....... If he does he is certainly a damn fool, and he might possibly be a damned soul; but if he may not, he is not a free man any more than a dog.
