Longest Pre Op liquid/protien bar regime
Dudes,
was thrown for a loop yesterday, and maybe i just need to keep my eye on the prize, but I am one of those +50 bmi chunks who will have to work on loosing weight prior to surgery.
I was reading through my docs pre work package (I am just starting, in the middle of my major psychical and tests, poking etc....) and it mentioned that the period could be 12 weeks or more!
I know i am being a wuss, but jezz, that seems like a long time on liquids.....i am freaking out a bit......which is translating into some bad eating the last two days, when i was really doing well jus****ching what i have been eating for the last few weeks.
before i totally spin out, any thoughts?
thanks

If you are like most of us you have been through one diet after another only to yo-yo to a point that you are now! This is just one more time that you have to "diet" before you have the tool to form life long propper eating habits.
If you are not willing to suck it up for 12 weeks then this surgery may not be for you. You can do this and it is totally worth the effort. Don't allow food to be your anchor anymore!
Good luck and we are all behind you. You have to be willing to make these sacrifices for this to work!
P.S. In 9 months I am down to a size 32 jeans, medium shirts, 191 pounds and a 23 bmi.....Now isn't that worth a little sacrifice!

does that make sense?
It does Travis. I've been there. But trust me when I tell you when the pounds begin shedding quickly, your wife looks at you in a different way, your kids (if you have some) have a renewed sense of pride on their face when you walk into their daycare or school you will once again remember what life is all about and that food addiction will seem silly to you.
I have become far more addicted to feeling good and the love from my family than I ever was to food! You will transform your thinking but you have to go into this strong! Talking it out on the boards is a great first step.

To me, 12 weeks seems like a very VERY long time to be on a liquid diet. That can't be right, but if it is, i'll pray for your strength! I had to do liquids for 5 days prior to surgery, but I decided to do it for 7 instead, and it was the longest week of my entire life. That was very hard for me, I lost 13 pounds that week, but still, it was tough.
i need to just diassociate with food, i have been trying protien shakes for lunch....and have been able to do that.....
i know this is more, but i am ready, have my family i have to think about...i have to get healthy, i really don't care how i look, just need to get my health back.
i think i am willing to do anything, it was just reading that yesterday really threw me for a loop.
thanks guys.....
i think i am going to stay a while, so i need to get my big head on an avitar!
