When you get close to goal buy some UnderArmor Cold Gear 2.0 or 3.0, becauseyou will never be warm again. When I replaced my clothes I kept my eye on the Cabela's online bargain cave, I bought most of my dress clothes and hunting clothes from there at rediculously low prices. Seems when you are a normal size you can get in on the deals. I picked up 3 dress shirts last week for $5.99 each.
You will get cold faster, but you warm up faster too. The cold has less body to permiate.

I really like being able to go to regular stores for clothes. I love my Old Navy Ringer T's, they are 2x and are starting to get a little baggy. I'm going to wear them till I can fit into a L comfortably. There haven't really been any downsides to it. People are treating me better and not looking at me as the fat guy. I'm still trying to get under that 300lb hump, been stuck at 304 for a week now. It is nice buying all new clothes. Except that when I get down to my goal weight I shall start buying nice clothes instead of just buying something cuz it fits.
VSG is the slower loser but not as slow as the band. The 1st and 2nd month I think most will drop about 20-30lbs. After that expect dropping 10-15lbs a month. My main choice for the VSG was it has a lower complication rate and I don't have dumping syndrome. I am not knocking the RNY, I have seen great results from it. Just not my cup of tea.
Good luck
