Positive and negative about loosing 102 lbs.
As of this morning I'm down 102# since two week before surgery (4/1/09). I still can't believe this is real at times. Here are some good and bad things I've realized about loosing the weight:
+ I can't believe I carried 100 lbs extra around all the time
+ My knees don't hurt.
+ My feet don't hurt as much.
+ I'm off diabetic meds.
+ I'm off high blood pressure med.
+ I'm off cholesterol med.
+ My kidneys work like they are suppose to again.
+ My motorcycle gets 3 to 4 mpg more than before
+ My motorcycle goes faster.
+ It's easier to throw my leg over the seat when I get on my motorcycle.
+ I look better and wear smaller clothes that actually fit right.
+ My grocery bill is smaller and so is the restaurant bill.
+ The furniture in the house doesn't break down as quick.
+ I need less sleep and quit using the VPAP machine.
+ I'm more easy going.
+ I can fit in my new fishing float tube.
+ I've got lots of room in my closet.
+ I get a big tax write-off for all the clothes I've donated to Goodwill.
+ I get complements (people smile when they see me).
+ I'm 1.5 inches taller.
The negatives:
- I don't have many clothes ( 3 pair of jeans, 5 short sleeve shirts, 2 dress pants, 3 dress shirts).
- I can't eat pork because I get violently ill ( no big deal giving up pork).
- I can't eat fish because I get violently ill ( I use to love grilled salmon)
- I'm sure there are other negatives, but they don't come to mind right now
.
My goal is 42 more lbs to loose. What other positives and negatives will that bring? How will it affect deer hunting and small game hunting this fall?
What + and - have you realized?

The biggest one...is society will treat you different. People will look at you and think...there is a really disiplined guy...He must have it togeather (if only they knew). So...you will get treated better in business situations. Beautiful women will make eye contact and start flirting with you!! Buy some newer stylish clothes and it happens even more so...It took awhile to wrap my mind around what was going on. Before as I was walking by, women would give me extra room...like I was a pervert. You need to be grounded in this stuff or it can really take you for a loop. Enjoy the ride.
I know what you mean about the picture on the motorcycle. I went to Sturgis in '07 and have a picture of myself on the bike with all the gear when I left home. I was wearing a denim jacket (XXL) that was stretching the buttons.
Amazing the difference 100 lbs will make.
What do you ride? I've got a 1500 Vulcan Classic '04.

Man, I can relate to that list!
Anyway, hunting this fall will be much easier. I had lost around 60 lbs when last deer season rolled around. Went hunting with a buddy (overweight like I used to be) and I thought he was going to have a stroke before we climbed up the mountain, but it was no big deal for me - and that was the first time in a long time I was able to negotiate steep terrain without feeling like I was going to blow up. Now that I'm down over 100 lbs, it seems even easier. Can't wait for the woods this fall!
One side note: don't know if you ride an ATV, but one more good thing is it will balance you a lot easier if you do. 2 months before surgery, my fat a$$ flipped in a spot I'd been over many times before. Got to think my size had something to do with it. Somehow I escaped with just a few scratches, could've killed me easily. Now that I have the energy to walk, it stays parked at home.

I work in the MRI Dept. in a hospital and we have to keep it cool/cold. The thermostat in our control room is usually set around 65degrees. I freeze all of the time!!!! Here it's August and I'm wearing long underwear under my scrubs and I wear a fleece pullover and insulated jip up sweat jacket most of the time while at work. If we go out to eat my wife and I always have to take some kind of jacket into the restaurant with us.
