Old Timer in the house
Hi Tim,
How are ya? Still mountain climbing? Still got the mustang? I come here every now and then only post on occasion. Hang out on the exercise forum some. On the whole don't get on OH like I use to. Not Dave still posts I think. Haven't seen or heard any thing about Dx. Was never quite the same for me after Dx quit posting. Do you know any thing about Carbonblob. I often wonder about him as well.
I'm still running, doing 5k or 10k every now and then. My best 5k time this spring was 23:17 and my latest was 24:27, I have my first Marathon Nov. 1.
Good to hear from you.

I know that Dx E posted here on 04-26-09; I only remember since that's my birthday. Dx had been one of the people working with QUIOTIC which was another WLS site but he wrote back in April to say the Men's Forum There was shutting down. You can look up anyone who has posted here in the past year by going to the Members List above. It lists screen names alphabetically by the first letter, then 2nd letter, etc . For Example, I would be under the S filed as sjbob.
Normally I would say that you could contact someone by going to their profile and sending contact info. I do know that, in the past, Dx E did not respond to them. You can give that a try with him or anyone else. I know that some of the guys belong to BigAl's Group but I don't know how to get there. OH came out with Groups within the past year that are run by individuals: they decide who they will admit to their group. BigAl's group was for Men only and, as the administrator, he could screen applicants and tried to make sure that they were men.
I don't know if you were around last summer of 2008. There was a tiff on this site brought about because of comments by a woman who posted here. The bigger bit of the tiff was because of a dressing down that we got from a man from OH member services. After that, many old timers left for other sites. I believe that their argument was that OH gets its revenue based on the number of hits to the site and that these men felt that they were responsible for much of that because of their active particiption here. Some burnt their bridges but others just went dormant for a while.

Thanks for the response guys,
I remember the big blow up last year and a lot of us moved to the other Quix site and I posted there till about Nov08 then my life started to make big changes. I am still maintaining my 241lbs weight loss after 3.5 years, my weight sits around 225lbs most days. I am still climbing mountains and drive my red Mustang GT convertible. I made the decision last December to finally end my 28 year marriage to my wife. We separated in April 09 and sold our house pretty quickly and I am now living the single life. It has been a huge change for me and Susan but after my son went off to college last year it was clear to me that the two of us had nothing in common anymore and without the kids to run interference we were just kidding ourselves. We were able to work everything out without wasting a lot of money on lawyers and while it was painful and expensive to me I know it was the right thing for me to do for my long term health. I am much happier now that I had been for the last 10 years of our marriage. I was on the road 300 days a year during the first 18 years of our marriage so it was easier to deal with in the early years. In hindsight I feel that one of the reasons I gain so much weight (460lbs) was in response to my level of unhappiness with my life but I felt trapped because I did not want my kids to have to play the "who house are we at today" game. So I am moving onward and upward with my life and I'm doing really great!! I have a lot of good friends and I really enjoy having the freedom to do what I want when I want it without having to go through the Spanish Inquisition ever time. Life is really good for me now. I still feel great and have never had any issues since my RYN at Duke. Hope y'all are all doing well and good luck. I'll try and drop in more often now. I'll have to give Dx a call and see what's up.
Take Care,
Tim

Hey Tim...good to hear from you. Once Quiotic closed shop I think many old timers scattered. Many couldn't (or wouldn't) come back because of Jeremy (Sombrero Boy) working with OH. He left a bad taste in many peoples mouth. But those were great days. DX and his knowledge...Baja and his cutting humor!! Well we all hve to move on. I still post to try and help newbes...and I have the time being semiretired. Take care. Brian...Cabin111
Hi Brian,
I understand it was really good times back then. Like catching lighting in a bottle, I was sorry to see it end but OH were being jerks about the locker room so we finally had enough. The Quixotic folks were great to us after the initial shock of our invasion wore off for them. Glad to see some of the old timers are still around here. I have been so busy over the past 10 months that I have really lost touch with everyone in the WLS community. For those that do not know me in the locker room, I was a walking train wreck in 2005 at 460lbs with a BMI of 58, I was suffering with a bad back, bad knees, 240 cholesterol, 150/120 blood pressure, severe sleep apnea, hell you name it and I had it. I lost 241 pounds and have kept it off for the past 3.5 years. All of my medical issues resolved themselves over the first year after my RYN at Duke and I have never had any complications. But even at 3.5 years out the same things that made me successful in the beginning are continuing to work for me now. Eat right, take you vitamins and plenty of exercise. For all those new to the WLS road, it works if you follow the process and are willing to do the hard work to make yourself successful.
Good Luck,
Tim
