3 Years
Celebrated 3 years last weekend. Got me to thinking about how important it was for me to read stories that gave me hope, so here is mine.
3 years, -192 pounds. I went from 412 to 220, size 54 waist to 36, 63 jacket to 46. I weigh less for the third straight year for the first 3 times in my life I think. I am shopping at regular stores for clothes, don't cringe when I see plastic chairs or plane seat belts. I now have to worry about what color belt I wear since people may actually see it.I run 3 miles every day and am much more active for my kids. Professionally, I realize how much I was holding myself back and have been promoted since the surgery, even in these tough times. I also drive a luxury sedan now when I would only drive trucks because I couldn't get in one.
This is not to gloat to pat myself on the back. It is instead a thank you to all who shared their stories so I didn't back out. I hope it is also encouragement to anyone who is thinking about the surgery. It is not a get out of jail free card, but it is a second chance. I thank God for this blessing and can tell you that even at the most challening times throughout the process, I would do it again 100 times over. My only regret might be that I didn't do it sooner.

It always takes me a minute or two to connect the name and the face...The profile helps. It's coming back now. Still coaching high school football? Did hell week start today? Great to hear you're doing good. Like so many guys, they use this site for info and help...and then just move on with the business of living life. We may not even spot WLS people unless we see them buying a protein shake or bar supplement or some B-12. Glad you're enjoying the ride. Brian
