WTF!
Alright guys its been awhile since I posted, just been busy with life. I have a question. I've noticed some guys are loosing ALOT more weight than what I've lost. Some with the exact same surgery date. I've lost a total of 57 lbs. I eat right and probably could hit the gym more, but work and a 3 month old keeps me pretty busy. Any suggestions?
But did they have V.S.G. too, Pumadude? And were they heavier than you to start? (heavier they are, faster they lose, usually
) .. How much total do you have to lose yet? ![](http://images.obesityhelp.com/_shared/images/smiley/msn/confused.gif)
The V.S.G. is one of the slower-losing procedures, akin to lap-band, since there is no malabsorptive component (and the sleeve is larger than the RNY pouch, as well) .. Don't expect to lose as much as fast as the RNY or DS patients .. However, almost 60 pounds in the first three months, as in your case, is nothing to sneeze at for a V.S.G.er .. ! I'd say you're doing great ..
Just be patient ..

Frank talk about the DS / "All I ever wanted to be was thin, like that Rolling Stones dude ... "

Guess I should say I'm a 28 yr old, 6'2". The day of surgery I weighted 340. I weighted today and I was 283. My clothes are fitting loose and people have approached me and commented on my weight loss. I've noticed some guys have lost 97+ within the same time frame...ish. I'm a big guy regardless...I'll look ridiculous at 185. If I can get down to 220-230 I'd be happy. Also I had the VSG...
I wouldn't compare yourself to anyone else, it's a dangerous road to go down. Your body will lose at it's own rate. Just make sure you're following your surgeons post op diet, exercise, and make sure you are getting in enough protein. You don't want to lose muscle while losing weight, although you will lose some, if you keep your protein intake high, you will minimize that loss.
As for your goal weight, I'd wait until you are closer to goal before you say you don't want to be 200 or less. I'm 6'1" and started at close to 500 lbs, I am very happy under 200 lbs and don't look ridiculous.

Batwing is right. Your surgery does cause slower weightloss. But you gain absorption...which causes you to not lose as fast. Your surgery is less radical...but I believe if you are not effective over the years you can proceed to other more radical surgerys. So what I am trying to say is there are good and bad points with each surgery. You are looking at one of the negative points...But a lot depends on where you started, co-morbitities, age...things like that. Brian PS I'm eating the color of the rainbow in fruits and vegetables...We just don't know what may come up short in with the malabsorption. Last year my surgeon came to the support group and said 2 people became very very sick (RNY) from a lack of B-1. I said you mean B-12...He said no...B-1...a new discovery (Beriberi). So daily they are finding out problems with each surgery and what may be coming up short. A trade off with all surgeries.
I'am not familiar with VSG, however, I started to add lean lbs which was a supprise to me. I had a weigh in Friday and am back to 202 from 198.5. This is good as my gym time is paying off.
My doc still has me on 1900 cals and may up that. I was at 41 BMI on surgery date and now at 30.8. Best case is to hit 162lbs, but I'am not to sure about that. I eat right and exercise and I'am believing the honymoon is ending
Good luck

I have been averaging 3 pounds a weeks since starting mushies. I've stayed consistent up until the last week or so with losing even without working out. Life hasn't been cooperating with me, in the last month I have only made it to the gym a couple of times.
