All I have had today is 2 slices of cheese a mouth full of kidney beans and maybe 16oz of of Crystal lite.  I have not felt like eating today at all.   Is this normal?

I don't get physcially hungry anymore. But it sounds like you might not be feeling well. keep up the fluids at least and maybe get some rest.

I have many days where I'm not hungry.  My wife is the same.  Alot of the time we have to eat by schedule and not by feeling.  As posted above make sure you're getting your fluids in.....especially in Florida.  Seems like all I ever want to eat is fruits and veggies.  The thought of meat is not appetizing to me at all but I do make myself eat it.

I have days where it's like someone pulls the plug on my energy supply.  It will hit me at about 1pm or so and I will totally crash....usually while at work.  I don't know if it's diet or the fact that I get up at 4:45am, go to work at 6am and wor****il 3:30pm and usually don't go to bed until 11pm.  I do that schedule on Tues, Wed, and Thurs. on Fri. I work 9am to 6pm with Mon. off.  On the crash day I'll come home and do nothing and I mean nothing but sleep the rest of the day.

Hang in there and listen to your body.  You're going through a hell of a change and it takes it's toll.  I don't get down about my crash days.  I figure it's just part of the process.

i might try and eat some kind of red meat for a protein boost?  I have eleminated it from my diet and lately i been feeling just ragged.. I'm sure i could eat a little filet, that would be soft enough for me to get down.

I'm 16 months out and still don't really WANT to eat most days. I just do not get hungry that often. I always keep the Myoplex ready-to-drink protein shakes in the frig and will drink 1 to 2 a day, depending on how much protein I eat in other forms. That gives me between 42 to 84 grams of protein. Then I will make myself eat more small portions of protein throughout the day - beef jerky, slice of cheese, 3 oz. of tuna, 3 or 4 oz. of turkey or chicken.  I also mix a Protein Bullet in SF jello when I make it. That counts toward your protein and fluids. I usually end up getting in between 100 to 125 grams of protein each day. Some folks will say don't drink the protein shakes, but for me, it works. I figure that drinking it in beats not getting it in at all.

I do try to ingest some carbs about an hour before I hit the gym so I can have enough gas to make it through my weight training.  One thing I learned is that you MUST stay hydrated. Make sure you get in at least the minimum amount of fluids (more if you can) each day. Sometimes I add a Protein Bullet to my Crystal Lite to get in that little extra protein too.

Hang in there and good luck.

No.

You can probably withstand the undernourishment as far as food is concerned in the short term. But you better damned well be getting at least a half gallon of water/Crystal Light in per day.
The free man owns himself. He can damage himself with either eating or drinking....... If he does he is certainly a damn fool, and he might possibly be a damned soul; but if he may not, he is not a free man any more than a dog.

I've been like that the last couple days...  been up and down a few times the last couple months.

Oh, be careful of those store bought liquid protein "bullets" or "shots". I just recently found out that the protein they have from calogen... which is basically cow/horse hides and hooves. Not the kind of protein that is really recommended for a WLS patient.

You're right in that some of the spin-off protein bullets or protein shots do have collagen protein. But there are some that contain 100% whey protein, which is what you want to use. The original Protein Bullet and Pure Whey protein shots are whey protein and  I add one of them to my Crystal Lite or water when I go to the gym.

I've been feeling like that for months now, if I didn't know that I need to eat to get my protein in, I wouldn't eat at all.  I've gone back to doing shakes to get protein in, 1 16oz shake with 2 scoops of EAS and 16 oz of 1% milk = 60g of protein.  I can get away with just drinking that.  I chew a lot of sugar free gum so I don't miss out of the chewing habit.  I drink a lot of water.  About 64 oz a day.  I have been getting to the gym every day and doing 30 min of cardio and 30 min of lifting.  I need to bump that up a bit.
