Dumping is a term we use for getting sick from overeating or eating something your body can't digest (usually sugar).  We all dump a little differently, for me I get a stomach ach, get very sleepy, and very hot.  It is so bad that I usually have to lay down.  My first year post opp it lasted for about 40 minutes each time, now it only lasts about 20 minutes.  Lucky for me I still dump, some people never do and some do for the first year or so and then never again.

For me dumping is a sick feeling that hit about 15-20 mintues after I eat something with to much sugar, or 45-60 minutes if I eat something with to much fat. I get hot and a little tired too. For me dumping was one of the reasons I wanted gastric bypass. I knew if I could eat ice cream a lab band may not do me a lot of good. This way I stay away from the old foes.
That said I hope you dump, not everyone does but most do. Keeps me honest. lol

My first dump was from the pain meds they sent me home with... they warned me it was kinda sweet, and I did water it down like instructed...

but it made me nausious, gave me the cold sweats, cramped up a bit.

Only other time was when I tried a burger patty with some ketchup... likely from the fat of the burger.

nausea, sweats, cramping again...

each time lasted abut 15-20 minutes. The second time I ended up in the bathroom for a bit about 30-40 minutes later.

Another thing to look out for is getting tired.  If I eat sugar during the day, There is a guaranteed nap to follow.  I just can't keep my eyes open.  That is part of the dumping syndrome.
