A Quick "my surgery is cancelled" update
My surgery was supposed to be 7/22/09 until this mysterious stomach pain set in. Surgery cancelled and tests start. I had CAT, sonogram, blood work etc. anyihopeidonthavecoloncancer, I am going in on Wednesday for a colonostomy as the pain just won't go away. If thats clear a quick trip to the urologist to test for stones and if thats clear we reschedule the surgery.
P.S. cancer is unlikely according to m doctor as I'm 29 years young.

Oh, I have had such a tremendous amount of anxitey about my innards I think I am going to switch to the band instead of RNY. I just can't stand all the tests and hospitals and now the side affects have got me freaked out. The surgeon assures me that I am one of the few people that he can be sure will be successful with the band because I exercise so much already. (martial arts) I just can't control my eating. I can undo 2 hours of exercise in 10 minutes right now....
I know getting your innards rearranged sounds kind of freak....but there is a reason that the DS and RNY and even the VSG have higher success rates then the lap band. Obviously you need to do what you feel comfortable with....but if you over eat now, you will be able to over eat with the band. It does not stop you from eating chips and other "slidder" foods; and in general it has a very low success rate. Also, while it sounds less invassive, it is not. The band is a foreign substance implanted into the body. Many people have to have surgery to remove the band because their bodies reject it, it slips, or errodes into the stomach. It's not the clean/neat surgery that the commercials make it out to be. Most of the revision on OH are lap band to RNY or DS. It might be something to consider after you stop freaking out. There is a saying "think twice, cut once"
Good luck to you.
