lol but what does college have to do with getting surgery.. LoL
lol, Only thing I was worried about for my Surg was the Catheter.... I asked my doc the day before surg and to my releif he says for VSG he does not use it and RNY he does... So hope you are getting a VSG.
My brother said it stings when they pull it out, you are under when it goes in.

If they are puting you under you are getting a catheter. No worries, it's nice not to have to get up to go to the can, but you will be very happy to have it out too.
August 3rd is my surgiversary, good luck. You will probably be in the hospital for 2 days. Get up and walk as soon as you can and as often as you can. You will be tired for the first 7 or 8 days, leftover effects from the anestesia. If lapriscopic you shouldn't have any pain, just 5 or six places with a stitch or 2 each.
Follow the Doctor's and Nut's instructions and you will be fine. If you have questions or problems or just need to vent, ask us in here. We have guys in here that had the surgery 10 years ago and guys that had it last week so most of your questions can be answered by someone who has just had the same question a short time ago.
Again, good luck on your start of this amaizing journey.

Ah the catheter. I could only really tell it was there when I was peeing. You have no control of your bladder while its in. Y'll just be siting there and all of a sunden its flowing. Now as for having it being pulled out. It didn't hurt but it did't feel good either. Just make sure the hose doesn't get caught up when your up walking around. That wont be good
.
Bottom line losing 100 ibs in three months was worth having a tube up my **** for two days.

My Surgeon did not use a catheter. Two hours from the time that I got back to the room from Recovery I was up and walking....and every two hours after that. If a patient does not start urinating on their own then they may choose to insert a catheter. Also, my Surgeon did not insert any drain tubes. I've been told and read that some Surgeons leave drain tubes in post-op for a while.
If you're living is a dorm. it may be a little hard eating only the things that on your menu that you should have got from your Surgeon. I would check that out before your surgery. You can always keep most of that stuff in the fridge. that you probably have in your room. One can of soup lasts several meals.
Goodluck on your surgery!

It's going to go great. You're young enough that you will heal very quickly. I'm 57 and didn't have any pain once I left the hospital on the second day after surgery. I had a catheter, and there really wasn't any issue while it was in. When they pulled it out, there was a mildly "unusual" sensation but it was over with momentarily.
Earlier advice was good: make sure you have a stash of food that you will be able to eat. Another suggestion: talk to the food service people and see what they might have available for you. PLAN AHEAD. These last few days before surgery is a good time to get your thoughts together about what will happen in the first few weeks as you go through liquid to puree to soft to regular foods.
Good luck! Keep us posted.

Good luck on your surgery. What type are you having?
As far as the catheters go, you don't feel anything when they put it in, they do it when your out. They took mine out at 6 AM the next morning and it didn't hurt. It just felt weird. And it stung like hell the first time I went pee after it was out.
Now 29 years ago (showing my age) when I had a burst appendix and was recovering in Balboa Naval Hospital the Navy Corpsman came to take out the catheter and forgot to deflate the little balloon that holds it in your bladder. She started pulling on it and I just about came off the bed.![](http://images.obesityhelp.com/_shared/images/smiley/msn/furious.gif)
Thankfully a nurse was nearby and figured it out quickly and stopped her before she hurt something.
