Anyone ready for a little football???

I shared this last summer about this time.  As the days get hotter and we start melting out there in the summer sun...I'm just thinking about college football.  Yeh, I know most of you like the pros.  It's just as college football starts the weather really starts to change.  You're thinking things like maybe I need a sweater or jacket type of thing.
This time of year baseball is starting to get old, basketball is long past, and football is coming up.  Anyways...I'm ready for alittle college football.  Anyone else?

I have to be in west Texas Monday so traveling this weekend.  Went through Tuscaloosa on way to stopping in Vicksburg for tonight.  Lots of evidence y'all do have a football team there that a lot of people seem to root for!!

I am so ready I decided to start training in June to become a HS official this year.  We start on-field training in August.  What a rush to be on-the-field right at the action,..and able to run-around enuff to be able to do the job.

Joe, just wondering if the new guys get stuck as interior line judges.  I would worry about being hit as the line judge (brittle bone [loss of calcium] type of thing).  I know the NFL limited the age to 55 because of the hits they could take.  Just wondering.

We start in 5 man crews; Ref, ump, Backjudge, Linesman (chain gang side) and line Judge (opposite sideline).  Newbies usually start out as linesman or line judge in this association in VA. They have warned us about leading a play rather than trailing the play.  Leading is a good way to get a broken leg when they get tackled into you.  Safer to trail the play.  We have guys in their late 50s and early 60 but they are in good shape, so ita matter of healt and ability to think on your feet, stay alert and move around the field sufficient to do the job.  We have to be able to jog a minimum of .5 mi and go 1.5 mi in slowest acceptabe time of 16.25 mins. to do the job.

I've been out of highschool for 26 years and every August I still feel like I should be starting two-a-day football practices.  Pro, college, or highschool.....I like it all.

 I loved me some football when I played.  Big Jets fan and surprisingly enough a University of Michigan fan.  My brother in law went to U of M and I went to a game at the Big House with 108,000 rabid fans and it made me a fan instantly.  

Cant get there yet.  Still sweating the bike trails. Maybe a vacation in sight if I can convince wife its doeable
Skins fan here and ravens if no ones looking.  
But my fondest memories were at UVA games.  Charlottesville with its southern charm, changing leaves on the trees in the mountains, college partying with wine and beer(???)Sweaters, preppy looks everywhere. Great B&B's down there.
