Actually seafood is still easier for me to digest than red meat chicken, pork ,or turkey at almost 3 yr post-op.  Shrimp, scallops, and crab work for me best.
So I would venture to guess that sushi if not sweetened, would work for you after about the first 3-4 month for RNY.  Artifical  or imitation crab and lobster were the first meats I could tolerate besides Wendy's chili, when I got to phase three of my recovery nutrition plan that reintroduced meats into my diet.

I haven't touched sushi since surgery. I'm trying to keep my foods simple for a while. Maybe I'll get adventurous after a year.

Wendys chili I have read alot of peeps eating that I would have guessed that would be a nono because of the spices and stuff.

I love sushi!!  Ususally one roll will fill me up now so it's much cheaper than before.  I usually get a spicy tuna roll and a little miso soup.  I've tried about every kind of roll post surgery with no problems - you're results may vary.

eat any kind of sushi

You mean "bait"?

What taste good before surgery may turn your stomach, er pouch, afterwords and vice-versa.  Not knocking eating fish, good protein, just that I prefer my fish to be grilled or baked.

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

I did not have RNY but with my VSG I ate sashimi for my first meal of my soft food diet 2 weeks out,  4-6 cuts of fish and i am full.. It's pure Protein. If I were you I would stay away from the rice cause it swells but everyone is differen to what they can tolerate.

My sushi bill went from 45.00 to be full to 10.00 and I was eating it a few times a month. Now I eat it a few times a week.. 8-10.00 for a meal..  I go when it's busy so I can have a Miso Soup sip on that, place my order, this way i get my fluids in and have my meal...

Wendys Chilli I could not eat it early out, lol still can't eat it.. Too salty for me..

I am really not a sushi kind-a-guy... But, I would have to say that I have tried it and will say that not all of it is really all that bad. I do like the tuna... Try it.. HUGE!!! amount of lean protein in fi****s worth the adventure. I'm a bandie anything not cooked is kind of difficult but, take SMALL BIGHTS and CHEW CHEW CHEW.... and it seamed to work out just find. I did feel better after sushi.. I dont know if there's something with the raw fish nutritionally but, I had more energy and just felt better after eating it.

I love sushi but I can only eat a couple of pieces before I'm about to pop. I think the rice just fills me up wayyyy too much.
