From Wiki...only take what you need.  It can be constipating.  Yes, it is OK.  Take with food if you can.

Vicodin is made as a mixture of hydrocodone and paracetamol. Paracetamol, which is also called acetaminophen, acts as an analgesic/antipyretic. Hydrocodone is a synthetic mixture of the opiate codeine modified by an added hydrogen and the opiate alkaloid thebaine. Codeine acts as an antitussive, antidiarrheal and analgesic, while thebaine is added for its stimulatory effects.

I take the maximum daily dose of Tramadol and Hydrocodone every day for back pain and have since before my WLS.  The constipation can be an issue so stay hydrated.  If you take hydrocodone you need to stay away from tylenol as stated above it is already added into that medication.  Just take what you need and stop when you don't need it anymore and you should be fine.
