So I stopped by the bike shop to check the progress on it.  I know I will hardly see alot of trails so I changed the tires out to Bontrager Comfort Hardcase. They have a smooth center for low rolling resistance and a anti puncture kevlar belt.

Thats the tires I have on my Marin.  Great for roads, trails and even gravel.  Hope it is worth the wait!

Great that is the info that I needed to hear. Have you ever used them on wet pavement?  Never know when it's going to storm here in FL.

Yea and I can't wait...

I've wondered about getting a hybrid but am worried that they are not built to hold excessive weights.  Maybe in another 50lbs or so....that would make me close to 250lbs.  Years ago I had a Centurion Greg Lemond Triathalon bike.  I loved it.  That bike was fast and tracked so straight and smooth but I was always getting flats.  Everytime that I went out on it I would have a flat tire.  It had tires that was 7/8 inch wide.  Eventually I got too heavy for it and sold it.

You can get a Mountain bike then do what I did and change the tires to something with less knobbies on them.  Makes for a smoother street ride and you get  a stronger frame..  I thinki I'd look strange on a Hybrid.

When I used to ride in my early 20s I had no issue on steps or coming off a 5ft wall, lol can't do that on a road bike. Drainage ditches were my fav to ride. Sewer rats and roots are the worst,,  I was on a 20" BMX back then..

I guess noting is supposed to go right when i am buying something towards this weight loss... Had to return the Gary Fisher, Booooo... Bike shop I was using dropped the ball..  So went some place else.. That easy, wanna play games and waste time, refunds is how you get back...

So Got the 2010 Trek 4300 Disc and this shop gave me 20% off all the accessories....

All I want to do is Ride, other shop wanted to jerk my chain for a week.. If you can't get something tell the customer you can't get it vs making excuses so you don't lose the sale..

Added *** pack to put my Glock in...

Bout a month pre-op I went out and bought a new bike... I used to bike a lot when I was younger. BMX type stuff in the neighborhood (we had our own ... very basic mind you... track we built with jumps and stuff) to doing a bit of touring with church group and such in high school. Had a Sekai 2500 back then. Actually... stil do... I think it's still in my Aunt's attic.

Anyways.. here's what I've got now...

My Bike

I was about 335 when I got this.. wanted something beefy to hold up and to last. Hadn't planned on buying, but it was the last of the 2008s in the size I wanted, in the price range I wanted (bout $400), so I went for it.

I'm not biking as much as I should be yet... but I'm up to doing about 10 miles. I could like do more... just haven't actually gone out and done so yet. Need a kick in the ass to get motivated sometimes.

But reading this is giving me the itch to go ride.

I'm looking to get a new rack to mount on the spare tire on my jeep so I can take it with camping and to some of the parks around here and hit some nice places. Street riding is nice, but gets boring.

Back in HS and such I had a nice pair of padded gloves... I need to find a good pair like that again... or better grips. The seat I'm adjusting too, but I feel like I'm brusing my hands.

I have a basic wired computer I got at either WalMart or Sports Authority I think, under $20, and it works just fine for keeping track of distance and such.
