I bought a bike today
I ended up with a Gary Fisher WaHoo with disc brakes. Waaaaay more than I planned on spending. Out the door with the few changes I made including tax 730.00. I managed to get some free stuff out the deal. Got some water cages, free install of the upgraded parts and they took 40.00 off the total price.
Picking it up next Thursday http://www.bratbike.com/bikes/fisher/images/2009%20images/09 wahoo-756x567.jpg Here is the actual bike.. I changed the saddle, grips and got a longer stem to push the bars up more..
I decided to sell my treadmill to help pay for the bike.. 2000.00 treadmill. Will hold a 500lb person... lol I bought it pre owned for 400, put it on Craigslist for 300.00 lol 2 people want to see it tomorrow..Think I listed it a little low but excercise equiptment is hard to get rid of.

Sweet ride! Good move on the longer stem. I've been riding my Giant that I bought in 1993. It's a good bike but I'd like a little more of a upright riding position. I've thought about one of those hybrids but I'm kind of worried about their capacity to hold a 300lbs rider. Anyway be ready for a sore ass for awhile but you'll toughen up soon.
thanks I wanted the Giant Yukon but it didn't have a lock out on the forks for pavement riding. That makes a huge difference those rock shocks are bouncy. No one makes a rigid fork anymore..
lol yea I will be riding around my area till i get used to it. My neighborhood has a mile of road in a circle so a few laps everyday till I get used to riding again.

When I started riding again, it wasn't very fun...at about 240 pounds it got better. As I dropped more weight it got even better. Don't worry if you get frustrated on the bike a first. I stopped riding for a few months. But I got back on it at a lighter weight...It became way fun. Just saying it might be a lot better in the fall and winter this year. Brian
My old Giant has the rigid front forks so I guess that's a good thing. I always wondered about the front shocks for pavement riding. I have no intention of taking it off road.
I try to mix up my cardio with walking and biking. If it's really hot and humid I like to bike because at least you can get a breeze. I want to start swimming laps but I'll have to join the YMCA to do that.
Have fun riding!

thanks.. I didn't want to spend that much on a bike but I didnt want to get something that was junk and would be replacing parts in a year.
your other message wasn't offensive to me.. WHen I test rode the bike I was fine riding no discomfort. I changed out the tires too, traded the knobbie's for something that has a flat center and knob side.. Cant wait to get it..
Hows the ride on those small tires on a trail?

i deleted that other post because the picture didn't upload. I have the hardest time doing that. I don't take the road bike on trails. I use my Giant Comfort bike for that. We have lots of gravel trails around here that are really nice, but not good on road bikes. Here is another picture this morning of us going up the hill towards the cut. Clocked 45 mph going down the hill, hehe.
