Eating out

It's getting to the point of being annoying when I am eating out. The server will keep coming over asking if the food is ok. I don't feel the need to explain why I am eating slow or what appears to them as picking at it.

Last night I went out with a friend and they offered to comp the meal. I said no I wanted to take it home. She said you can still take it home.. LOL and there was nothing wrong with it.. She assumed it was bad.  They gave it to me for free and brought out a new one for me to take home..

So now I have 2 meals.. I gave the new one to this semi homeless guy at the pub I go to..  Black and blue chicken.. Blackened with blue cheese.. He was happy..

Had the same problem when they asked if I wanted a drink.  Now I get a water and let it sit there.  For my meal I get half orders or ask for half togo at the start of the meal.

Well gez, that was nice of them to give you a free one.  When I'm asked if everything was ok, I ask them if it wasn't, do I get it for free?  They always say no.  Darn it!  Eating out just isn't enjoyable since I eat so little, and the servings are so huge that it is like getting 3 meals (and re-heating the food does not set well with me most of the time).  I do get some strange looks when there is hardly a dent in the plate, and I am asking for a to go box.   A lot of times, if they have a decent kids menu, I will order from that, and nobody here has given me any flack about it.  But, so often, the kids menu is like a hot dog and fries, so can't do that all the time.

SOME PEOPLE ARE LIKE SLINKIES - NOT REALLY GOOD FOR ANYTHING BUT THEY BRING A SMILE TO YOUR FACE WHEN PUSHED DOWN THE STAIRS.

It's been my experience that the more times you go eat somewhere the servers will pick up on you eating so little and taking the rest home.  GF and I went to local eatery for supper last night and had a server we have had before.  She knew to only bring us two small corn bread muffins, an extra plate and a to go box.  Yes, for that kind of service she got a very good tip too.

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

We've gone out a few times.  Only once did they concern themselves with my eating habit. The manager came to the table ask If the food was ok.  I pulled up my shirt and showed him the bullseye with the scar in the middle.  He knew what it was and tore up the check     Note , we are regulars and I would'nt have the stones anywhere else Thats the first time wifey saw the art work!!!!!!!!!!! She said later why did u do that.  No better than to answer that one.
Good luck

I look the menu over real well to find something I can eat and will not be so much. About everything is such large portions now. I try to give some of mune away to whom ever I'm eating with or get one and share if it's another WLS dinner. I end up taking a lot home. I have been ask several times if everything is OK. Most of the time I just say "it's really good but I can't eat much".

I have no problem telling waiters that I've had weight loss surgery.  Most of them are used to other customers in the same situation.  So, what's the problem?  They're concerned that you should enjoy your meal.  Just let them know how the food is and be happy that you've had WLS.

I don't feel there is a certain amount that i have to eat to please the server.. If I tell them nothing is wrong with the food.. They should leave it be.. I think she was worried I would not tip..

If I say oh I can't eat alot I should not have to go into the reason why.

I don't eat out much.. Just the summer people come to visit and It is easier than me cooking for them.

Joe,
I have, since my first outing after my surgery, always ask the server If she could bring me a take out box and explain that I had weight loss surgery and can no longer eat very much. I usually get treated quite well and I always leave more than the usual 15 to 20%. (I grew up working in family restaurants so I do over tip). I order a regular meal. eat my protein first, then a little of everything, then enjoy the rest over the next meal or two. One thing I do do, as the self professed OH Barbarian, I order all my beef meals extra rare! I do this so that I can re-cook it and not have to eat dried out over cooked leather. Yes, I have no problem eating raw meat; fresh killed raw is better. Like I said, I am the self professed OH Barbarian. I make Ted Nugent seem civilized. Ask his hunting guides, most of them have hunted with me and know me, and can will confirm that.
(Oh and for the 'OMG you are going to poison yourself eating raw meat' crowd, the meats I kill and eat are safer than that stuff you buy from your mercenary butcher.)
