Bread, That Pesky Stuff
Well at about four months out I have not had any bread. I use to love bread. I had about a half a slice of toast a month or so back and that has been it for bread.
I would like to have a small sandwich from time to time but not sure what to expect. I heard soft bread is hard for RNY'er to get down. Just wondering what the rest of you think. I just get about 800 cals a day on average and bread might up that with little protein.
Thanks,
David

Same here. I stay away from bread. Maybe whole wheat wraps but no white carbs. Hamburger and hot dogs with rolls wrapped around them did me NO GOOD. Used to eat one or two each at a picnic with junk all over them and a plate full of noddle and potatoe salads . My idea of a poor food choices now. My wife never ate like that and she is a size 2 since college.
Good luck - I should have followed my wifes food choices. I did'nt and now a WLS'er

For lunch today I had a piece of toasted oatnut bread toasted, cut in half with crust removed and added two ounces of shreded chicken to it to make a small sandwich. Took my time and it went down well. Ocaisionally when we eat out I will get two eggs over easy and eat one half piece of wheat toast with it. So far I only eat toast about one meal per week as a treat.
Ditto on what has been said. The longer you can avoid breads the longer you will continue to lose. Carbs just stop the weightloss cold...and I mean dead cold...in it's tracks!! Carbs also start the regain process in motion, so stay away...Please...From those who have been there. It's almost like a crack addict saying "I've been away from crack for 6 months...Think I just sample a little." "For old time sake." Just be real careful. Brian
I know our surgeries are a bit different, but the only bread I seem to be able to get down and not be bloated or have gas issues with is Mrs. Baird's 100% Whole Wheat .. It has to be a 100% whole wheat variety and not just a whole grain one, btw. Mrs. B's bread seems to be a bit "softer" and lense "dense" than other brands, I've found ..
Frank talk about the DS / "All I ever wanted to be was thin, like that Rolling Stones dude ... "

Stay away from bread for the first 6 months No nutrition and only takes up space. Most breads are packed full of sugar especially the buns and rolls. Once you can handle bread eat the whole grain brands, they will be a great help in keeping things regular. I eat at least 2 slices of "Brownberry Healthnut" each day to keep things moving.

My advice is to stay away for as long as you can. You can always get the protein without the bread and starting the bread just always seems to make eating more of it easier. Good, whole grain bread is not bad for you, but it is easier not to start if you can hold off as long as you can.
Good luck.
