But the help I need is for my best friend.....
My friend Phil is a LARGE man.  I don't know what he weighs but would estimate something around 600.  He is getting married on Oct 31, 2009!!!  Isn't that fantatstic?  However, he is having a really hard time finding something to wear.  He doesn't want to wear a tux (the wedding is not that formal).  He ordered some dress pants that were 8x and they weren't quite big enough.  he has a really big belly.  Also, if he gets a dress shirt that fits his belly (which he hasn't been able to find anyway) it will be way too big around his neck.  So, I am wondering if any of you (men in particular) have suggestions of places he might find some dress pants?  Any suggestions or advice about finding appropriate atire for him  would be helpful.  I was hoping maybe there was something out there that we hadn't tried or know about?  Thanks in advance...

Let your friend be a man and give him the site. Not formal he can wear a wife beater and sweat pants.

I am sorry he is getting hitched, Being married could be like house arrest. It's bad enough the ***** on my Navigation tells me where to go and when, don't need someone else to do it to.

Perhaps he should talk to a tailor or seamstress about custom clothing.  It sounds like he has an unusual body shape and off the rack clothes won't work.

Just look for Big & Tall shops on the internet.  Also, check the yellow pages in his area.  Big & Tall stores go for very large sizes.

600 lbs.???      Geez, there may be hope for me yet ..      (so is he rich, famous or very well-endowed?   )

But seriously, at that size, Casual Male/Repp is out of the question  ..  I was almost too big for anything they had @ 461 lbs (I know - it makes one feel like chit  ) . ..        I hate to say it, but he will probably be looking at custom-tailored clothing for his size ..   There are a few places online he might try as well that sell real super-sized men's clothing (I think "Rochester Big & Tall" is one?  ) or the "King Size" co.  ...    The problem is that, for that big of a size, there is very little demand, so there is not mu*****entive for any clothiers to make or carry clothes in that size (or if they do, they want 10x as much for it as a seller would want/get for similar regular-sized clothing  ).   It's a simple matter of supply and demand and profit-making ...

One last place he might try is at an OH event in which they have a clothing-exchange room ..  Sometimes someone will donate clothes that large, but it will be a long shot ..

If he can't find anything that fits, he might want to consider a nudist wedding ..   I always threatened to around that way when I was running short on available clothing - I bet the clothiers would come up with clothes to fit me REAL quick, then ..

btw, please tell me you have talked "Phil" into WLS ..     If not, he may not make it to the wedding (or for very long, thereafter) ..

Best of luck to him ..

Reminds me of a "company retreat" outing my old firm had one summer, when I was still a 461-lb. pre-op.   While we were at the resort location, we came across one of those "old time photography studios" for tourists, where they dress you up in Old West clothing and props and take a "tin-type" photograph of you in a Western setting ..     The bossman insisted we all take a group shot at this place (NOT my idea, definitely), and I remember the photographer/owner freaking a bit when he realized he didn't have anything big enough for me to wear for the shot (I say "wear", when actually the clothing is pre-split open and fastened to the backside of your body w. safety-pins, out of sight, ala on the deceased at a funeral viewing).

I suggested we go with a "bandito" look for me, just tossing a sarape (blanket) over my shoulder w. a bandolero belt (e.g. bullets) and a sombrero on my head ..  I could then stand behind the "saloon girls" (the female office workers with us) to hide me from the waist down in the shot ..  (heck, I looked a little Hispanic anyway)  .. That really seemed to be the only option we had with my size and what clothing items we had to work with ..   But the dummy rejected that idea and insisted I put on a fringe vest and cowboy hat and, holding a buffalo rifle, look like just another buffalo hunter in the saloon     The vest was WAY too small and, not only looked ridiculous on me, actually impeded the circulation to my upper torso while I was squeezed (esp. my upper arms) into it , standing frozen in place and wating for the bozo to line up and take the group shot ..  Under the hot lights I ALMOST fainted from the combined effects of things ..    Just as he snapped the shutter I moved and kept myself from fainting ..  I quickly ripped off that stupid vest and got the hell out of "Dodge", wishing I could have rifle-butted the clown before I left  ..

I think they keep that group pic up on the wall at my old firm in the copy room , probably my last pre-op pic and the only one still out there ..  I'd like to put out a "bounty" on that sucker ...  !
