Haven't had one.  Usually you are out just a few minutes to a 1/2 hour I believe.  They go just below the pouch at the opening to the intestine.  Below is a copy and paste from awhile back.

What is a stricture?  This question comes up weekly, if not daily on OH.  Below is a copy and paste from Wikipedia.  If you are a few weeks out post op from RNY and have problems keeping well chewed food (even water) down, you might have a stricture.  Very common and very treatable.  Also do not freak out if you have to go back a second or third time to get treated for one.  The Gastroenterologist will go just below the pouch and air up the "balloon" .  It is an outpatient procedure and you will be sedated.  Brian

As the anastomosis heals, it forms scar tissue, which naturally tends to shrink ("contract") over time, making the opening smaller. This is called a "stricture". Usually, the passage of food through an anastomosis will keep it stretched open, but if the inflammation and healing process outpaces the stretching process, scarring may make the opening so small that even liquids can no longer pass through it. The solution is a procedure called gastroendoscopy, and stretching of the connection by inflating a balloon inside it. Sometimes this manipulation may have to be performed more than once to achieve lasting correction.

I'm sure every doctor is a little different but here's what happened with mine:

-arrive at hopital, get checked in
-wait
-wait some more
-fianally get taken back, they put a hospital gown OVER my clothes and put me in a bed
-wait, yet some more
-IV is inserted, fluid flowing
-Finally get rolled back to "OR like" room with equipment.
-GOOD LOOKIN' nurse gives me "something to relax me" in my IV
-Surgeon (the one who would do my surgery) comes in, chats, I doze off
-I wake up when they put a "pacifier" looking thing in my mouth
-I doze off again
-I wake up briefly when the tube goes in but quickly doze back off
-I wake up in holding area with wife by bedside.
-Surgeon comes in and chats with us, I remember NONE OF IT, gives the wife a 'script for Nexium, says I'm ok
-Wife drives me home, meds wear off in about 2 hours.

Nothing to it..at least for me

Good luck

I have had two in the last two months.  Easy, no sweat.  IV is the hardest part.  They say not to drive or make legal decisions for 24 hours.  In both of mine I had it in the AM and attended a formal function in the evening.  Good excuse to take a day off and take a long afternoon nap.

Your position at your "company" allows you to do that anyway!!!

Remind me to tell you the one about the guy going into the bar on Monday morning with a bucket of sh**, shotgun and orders a cup of coffee.

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

I had it done twice. Once while I was sedated.Once while fully awake, due to another medical issue that prevented my being sedated. I have to say that sedated was far better. But even without being sedated it was pain less, though uncomfortable. I had to fight the gag reflex for a bit while not sedated, but I was able to watch the screen. Seeing inside your stomach is fascinating.

I don't have anything to add.  I had one done in the summer of 2004 for a reason other than WLS and that's when they found that I had a staple line disruption.  I had a revision RNY done on 01-21-05 because of that.
