I can't wait (truth hurts)

I  will be banded in 6 days and my family is against it but then again they don't know what we go through. Like difficulty in bathing reach all the crevices or just cutting toe nails. Not to mention wiping after going to the bathroom(if I broke my right arm) I would need someone to wipe for me because my left hand could not reach. Buying clothes and belts that actually fit. trying to get from the floor. Sex is non exsistant because( I had prostae surgery and due to diabetes I don't know if the nerve sparing surgey was a success, if I want to use a needle to inject my penis it will get hard but that gets old). So I can't tell my family the real important reasons for having wls other than for my health but God Willing I will be a success.

Read to and/or print for them my profile. Maybe that will help. There is a lot in my blogs that they can learn from. It is about getting your life back and living healthy, not just existing until an early death. Good luck on your journey. I have been where you are and I can not wait until the day you enjoy really living life again.

Good luck with everything.  My family was against my process, but I told them I was doing this for me not anybody else.

Life will get alot easier..

The Family is against this because you haven't taken them to your doctors appointments for the last couple of years.  Like the rest of us I'm sure you glossed over your health issues when you discuss it with them.  Maybe they need to know just how close to death us fat guys are and how many quality years WLS can add to our lives.  They are scared of the surgery, you need them to be scared for you if you don't have it.  Then they will be more supportive.

Enjoy the journey

Sounds like you have the hard part down... you have the mindset to change and be successful with WLS.  Sorry to hear your family isn't as supportive as they should be.  Once they see the change, maybe they will understand why you had to take back control of your life.  We're pulling for you here, best of luck.  Keep us posted.

I just didn't tell my family until it was almost time to have the surgery. They found out, got a little pissed, then got over it. I try not to let family get in the way of my health if at all possible. I'm sure you'll do fine, though.
