A question i have....i am at 291 right now. Did any of you guys start at about this weight size and if so what weight did you get down to in a period of time? I should be 100 lbs or so less than what i am and just thinking ahead on this.

When you say starting weight that is one statement.  Also you must factor in how tall you are and what you have done to maybe loose some weight already.  I am 5'9" and started at 385.  I was probally about 390 to 400 however I was watching things for about 3 months before I had the courage to weigh myself.  When I did I was 385.  At surgery on 04/30/2008 I was 350.  Today I am 206.

So what are your other factors.

At 5-06 331 pounds was way too heavy.  13 months later holding around 168-170.  I lost my first 100 pounds in 3.5 months but it took nearly 6 months to loose last 50 or so to reach goal of 185.

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

I was sort of a lightweight...5'11"...300# at my heaviest.  282 the day of surgery.  I reached my goal of 190 in 6 months and 10 days.  Guys really lose it quickly (we have a larger musclemass which makes it easier than women).  Your weightloss will depend on your body type, exercise, physical work, AND NO CHEATING!!!  The longer you can stay away from sugar and carbs, the longer the success.  Brian

5'10" was 320  got down to 167 and was too light am happy at 175-180.  I have a friend with the same height and same waist he is 155 soaking wet.  I have much more muscle.  You can take this all in, but your body will be happy at it's own place so you shouldn't compare or try to get where someone else is.  Follow the plan and you will settle at a healthy weight for you.

I'm 6'1" and was 379 on 3/16/09 when I had VGS. That's been 3 months as of tomorrow and I've lost 62 lbs. I've had a stall then lasted 2 weeks and an injury to my hip. Working out harder and have a goal of being down 80 lbs by July 12th. Feeling good. Losing weight despite my mistakes and old behaviors. I'm blessed and have figured out, it's easier to work with this new tool than trying to work around it.

at 5'10" and 436lbs starting.... I lost 82lbs before surgery on 3/3/09, and just over 3 months later, I've lost another 82lbs, for a total of 164lbs in one year (i started Kaiser options program on 6/6/08).  It really all depends on how determined you are to losing the weight, and where you want to get.  For me personally, I really don't have an exact weight that I want to get down to, I have a size.  All I want to do is fit into an Large shirt, and a 36 waist pants.  (I haven't worn that combo in so long, I don't know if my guesstimate is right)  I'm at a 42 waist, and 2X shirt right now.

Anyone out there wear a 36waist pants?  if so, what size shirt do you wear?

5'9".  Highest weight was 380, six months before surgery.  By surgery in March 2007, I was down to 330.  Six months out I was 210, for a loss of 120.  After a year I was down to 150, for another sixty lost.  In the year and couple months since then, I've lost another 10 to be at 140 right now.  All in all, I've lost 240 pounds, two adult-male-Filipinos.  I've gone from 4X shirts to S-M, and y pant size has dropped from 50 to 26-27.  My weight continues to drop, though very slowly.  I am a very small framed guy (Filipino-Irish descent), so I figure that as long as I stay above 125 I'll be okay.

You, for a male, are considered a light weight.  Your numbers will probably not be as dramatic as the others' you see here who weighed more than you.  But never try to measure your success against someone else's.  Remember that every pound lost, no matter how long it takes, is its own success.

Best of luck, dude,

Cheers,

Chris
