one week to go!
This time next week I hope to be in the recovery room, waking up from surgery. I started my 10 liquid diet 8 days early...WTF was I thinking!!!
Good news is I am down 19 lbs, bad news is I want to chew something...anything. I have 7 days til surgery and my mind, or is it my stomch, is saying one regular meal won't hurt, just take an extra walk and it will be fine.
My wife started to do the diet with me, but that didn't last long...at least she tried. So I guess I am asking, what is the harm in one small meal? Any thoughts?

My doctor didn't believe in going on a diet prior to surgery, so I can't answer you. And, I weighed 571 at the time. I did have a final large meal that I celebrated with friends 2 days prior to surgery. I don't know why you are on liquids. You may want to call the surgeon's office and just ask why they have the liquid diet. Do it anonymously if you want--ie--just looking for info.
Did your doc say anything about a fatty liver?? I had a straight incesion not lap. no diet for me and a WOW last meal. In fact when I had to show up at 5:15 am FOR PREP, I was a bit hung over. I told the nurse my alcol/blood might still be high. No problem, on the table I went. You will get used to ice chips, fluids, walking, sleeping on an incline and giant baseball size turds. Keep a plunger near toilet and vasaline. Serious about this.
Good luck and welcome to the losers bench
Thanks for the feed back guys, yesterday was rough, but I made though without cheating. The main reason for the diet is to shrink my liver. I may call the Dr. office and see if there is any room for a mis-step. It has been rough the last couple of days, we have been having "lunch meetings" all week. Pizza, chinese, burgers...and I had my frigg'in protien shake. I sure hope this is easier with a pouch than my big ol stomch.
