Foods my pouch doesn't like!!

As i get closer to 2 months post-op I have started trying some foods that are on my list that I haven't tried yet. I am finding that some of the things I loved before my pouch doesn't like at all.

Anything with barbcue sauce on it
Peeled apples
Tuna Fish
Egg Beaters - I can eat eggs though.

I haven't tried anything spicy since the barbcue ribs fiasco.

How long does it take to begin to eat some of these things. I'm getting gun shy to try anything new. It seems when I do I just end up praying to the porcelin god.

Its prob the Vinegar vs the BBQ sauce itself.  I have a stomach and I can not handle vinegar at all yet.  Mayo even gets me queezy so I use mustard.

Spicy I tried it but didn't sit well either, will have to wait on that too..

I think that between 7 and 10 months out I was able to tolerate most foods (the appropriate ones!).  The one thing I will tell you is that our pouches are very fickle.  Something will settle well several times in a row, then all of a sudden, foamies.  It is really hard to figure out.

Hang in there

Nice thing about the porcelain god - it always accepts your sacrifices!

On the BBQ sauce it could be sugar in the sauce.  I get mine on the side now.  The tuna fish may be too dense and your pouch is getting PO'ed.  The apples I can't understand unless it is the sugars in them that is causing issues.

Hang in there and don't be afraid to try new things.  Just go slow!  If you have a problem with a food give it a month or two then try it again.

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

Mike,
First congrats, you are looking great! When it comes to what you can ear, everyone is different. My sister could eat things just after her RNY that I still can't. There are many things that I still can't eat. I never try a new food unless I am at home and have the time to recover, in case I dump. I found that Kraft Lite BBQ Sauce works for me while most others don't. It has only 5 grams of sugar and some BBQ sauce have as high as 30! I can eat apples now but I avoid apple sauce. Tuna like white meat chicken is hard for me to eat. In time you will learn what works and what doesn't for you.

BBQ sauce is off my list.  I may put a rub on my meat or A-1 but no other sauces.  BBQ ribs, steaks, meatloaf, burgers were some one of my addictions.
Tuna ok.  Eggs dont sit well.  Apples ok but I need to watch out for the fruit sugars.
As you get further out you can try new foods.  As long as they are good for you foods.  Stay close to home.  Dont go out  and experiment.  It could ruin your whole day

Good luck

I'm 30 months post op and still have a problem with certain foods.  Anything with a "high" fat content just doesn't work.  I need to trim even the slightest amount of fat from meat or I have a problem.

After about 9 months my surgeon told me I could eat anything my body would tolerate.  I have found that some foods are great for a few times or even months.  Then for no apparent reason, WHAM.  Just doesn't sit well.  Give it a break and it switches back to being acceptable.

Spicey foods don't bother me but anything that is sweet tasting even fresh fruit will give me problems.
