Serious today, and grateful. Happy to celebrate 56th birthday - one I was not expected to see a 1 1/2 years ago. Down 170-plus lbs, Life is good.
Not only alive, but healthier than I've been since my early 20s. Life is not just good for me, but much, much more of a joy.
Thanks, God, and thanks, Dr. Sherman Smith, and supportive family and friends.

All of us have been given a gift to cherish, appreciate, and use to the fullest.  You can't ask for a better birthday present than that.

Happy birthday!

Happy birthday!!!

This is a wonderful gift and drastic change from who we were.   I thank God for teh skills he gave my surgeon and the second chance at life he has given me.

 Congrats!

Reminds me of a post I did a long time ago on here, about "do you ever feel like you're not supposed to be here?"  ...   Back then I couldn't get out of my mind this feeling whereever I went that I was not supposed to have survived to this point, but only did so by "cheating death" in getting my WLS ..  It's a strange (psychotic?) frame of mind ..

Frank talk about the DS / "All I ever wanted to be was thin, like that Rolling Stones dude ... "

I'm right here with you on that. I am sure I would not have seen my birthday this year if it wasn't for my WSL. Congrats to you. Lets see how long we can hang in this world now.

Congrats to ya brother!!

I could have written this post next month. I'll be 56 and without the WLS and losing 200+ lbs. in the last year, not sure I would still be around. Sleep apnea, severe edema, congestive heart failure, pre-diabetic, couldn't walk more than a couple of hundred feet without having to sit down and rest, taking 13 meds a day,  etc., etc., etc.  Now I feel great- all the co-morbidities are gone, no more meds, I can exercise daily, play with the grandkids, ride my motrorcycle - do whatever I want!
