Frustrated with lack of energy
I am in the same boat as you and it is frustrating as hell. I am in the gym 4x a week but just really struggle to get in a "good" workout without getting to the point of extreme exhaustion.
I am going to try and up the protein intake both before and after the workout and see if that helps. Normally I'm taking in my protein shake after the workout but I will try and switch that around this week.

Remember that you are driving your body into starvation mode so don't expect cartwheels. With time, it will come. I know.... we all heard the same thing and thought "Where's all this extra energy they told me about?" It will come. I couldn't seem to get out of my own way some days and got exhausted doing "little" stuff. What helped with my intake was adopting a 6 meal per day plan. It allowed me to take in what I needed over the days time but not too much at any given time. I'm 8 months out and still eat 5 or 6 times a day. My energy is better than it's been in years but I did lose quite a bit of muscle mass. I'll work on strength after the 1st year. Also, don't get too hung up on the calorie count. Early on, I couldn't get enough in to even get close. Do the best you can and try to be patient.
Good luck,
Jim

Thanks for all of the advice. Things have been much better the past three days and I feel near normal. Here are the changes I made. I have double up on my B12 to 5000 mcg per day taken in two doses. I have doubled up on iron 60mg per day taken in two doses ( I showed slightly lower than normal iron before surgery). I start the day with a forty gram protein shake (which I hate but am choking down). I then graze all day only eating about an eighth of a cup or so at meals. Results in 80-100 grams protein per day and about 1000 calories per day. This is the end of the third day and I am getting ready to head home and don't feel exhausted so things are looking up for now!

I think you are on the right track. You might also try to up your vitamins so your body can use what it might be lacking, if anything. Because the body stores B12, I would have a hard time believing that is the issue, unless you were lacking it before surgery. If you continue to feel tired, ask the doc to do blood work so you can know for sure if there is something you need to be concerned about.
I think the guys gave you some good advice- just stay up on the protein any way you can.
Feel good!!
