IWGOMB and a vent
Well, life hasn't been wonderful for me these past three weeks with the death of my father and my perforated appendix. This has been my first real setback since WLS. I haven't been able to excercise much because of this drainage tube that is shoved into my stomach and because of being weak and traveling to california for the funeral. At the funeral I did a lot of grazing and even tested the sugar limits (I had stayed away from sugar up until this point). It is funny how my old habits came up when I was at home with my mom in the house I grew up in. I don't think I dump on sugar.
Anyway, those are the down sides: I have much to be proud of as well. I maintained my weight at 175, I have been keeping up my water intake and my daily vitamins. I did some excercise, walking, riding bikes, yard work. I haven't gotten down on myself and given up. I am back on the program. The tool is still working!!!!
Yesterday, I got some more bad news. The doctor said he couldn't take out my JP tube because my colon is "communicating" with my perforated appendix. This is a nice way of saying that **** is leaking into my system and I still need the drain because I could get septic again. I think this also means that I will be having a more invasive surgery sometime in the future (who knows when). It also means that I cannot fulfill my dream of doing my first triatholon June 14th because I can't swim with this tube in. Done complaining.
The good news is, I'm not letting this get me down. I am planning on going for a bike ride today on my new Bianchi Bike. It is Bianchi green and looks great and rides wonderfully.

Glad to see you back on the board Stephan, I've missed your posts. I hate that you won't be able to compete in your 1st triatholon. Keep training and you'll get the next one once you can get back in the water.
I just got back from the gym and a good 2 hour workout. I've started summer session at ECU and can't seem to squeeze a trip to the gym in during the week along with schoolwork and kids.
