haha. Well, you'll see after your RNY, you'll need those opportunities to release your gas.

When I had mine, I was living in an apartment, so mowing was not an issue.

For the non-smartassed answer, how active are/were you pre-op? To make a generality fraught with potential exceptions, within limits of lifting restrictions and stamina, you can do post-op what you did pre-op. If you could mow your yard the day before surgery, you should be able to manage it a week after.

In my case, I was an active cyclist and walker before surgery, able to do 2 miles walking without a sweat or an 8 mile cycle commute to work at 350 lbs. A week after, I had the stamina to do a 2 mile walk, although slower than pre-op, but I could not manage a 2 2 mile bicycle ride without getting whupped. Two weeks out, I could ride the distance I did before, and could walk at my usual pace the normal distances. It took a month for my stamina to meet and pass what I had the day before surgery.

All I can say for sure is double your time budget for mowing the first time or three, and be prepared for having (pull) start your mower for you, especially if you have an open procedure.

Ok, being the stickler about the lawn I am, I screwed up this past weekend.

My wife and daughter wentr fishing Saturday and I stayed home with my son to give the yard some much needed attention. I assured my wife i would let Mike do all the heavy tasks. But after he cut the grass and trimmed, (I edged because I have an electric edger that you just push along the ground) I wasn't happy with they way he trimmed, so I re-trimmed the yard withthe gass trimmer. Big mistake. One it was 95 degrees out with about 85% humidity, Two, I still have the G-Tube in. I was hurting the rest of saturday and all of sunday. After getting a verbal beat berating from Dina for overdoing it I said to her,"But honey the yard looks good." I then had to duck the flying couch pillow.

I guess I need to stick to what the doctor tells me and quit trying to push my recovery. Eating pureed foods and watching other people doing the things I should be doing really sucks.
