How many cal's a day are you eatting?
I recintly started tracking the ammount of calories per day I have been eatting. According to livestrong for my height and weight and activity level it says I should be eatting almost 3000 cal's a day. Just wonder if anyone else does this and how mant cal's a day are you getting in? I was a bit shocked by the number it told me. I have not tracked this since my wls. Always followed the rule protien first than complex carbs and veggies. Always trying my best to keep the junk to a minimum.

Derrick

I know that you follow most of my posts and are aware of the changes in my eating habits. I started counting calories in mid Jan, and since 01-29-09 I've kept myself between 1,600 and 1,800 cal. I lead a fairly sedentary lifestyle. I read one fairly active man the other day say that he maxes out around 2,700 cal. I've been losing weight and have lost 35 lbs from 01-29 through 04-28-09. I haven't been weighed since then but I am still following the food plan. Bob
Today is the first day I have started to track calories on the daily plate. I am not looking to be any lighter. I am looking to gain muscle and maybee loose some more of the flab arround my middle. I want to track my intake better so I can addjust it accordingly to reach my goals. Congrats on the loss and keep it going!
Thanks Bob,
Derrick

I was tracking with My plate at 1035 cals to drop 3 lbs per wk. It was up and down maybe due to carb and protein inbalance. My PCP told me yesterday he wanted me to up the cals to 1400. OK done. I am trying to add muscle weight and do 2-2.5 hrs x 5 days week at gym. Object is chest, back, leg muscles and 3.5 mls foot motion. This is plan A, have no plan B cept starvation. Gonna get into 34's soon
I usually eat around 2500-3000...and have been maintaining goal weight for about 6 mos.
5 meals @ 300-500 calories and maybe a couple snacks...
all very healthy food with a focus on high protein and realtively low glycemic...no crap goes in my mouth...
according to livestrong:
Our estimate is that you may consume about 3,709 calories a day to maintain your current weight.

After tracking what I ate yesterday I figure I need to make eatting my full time job. It was all could do to get in th1700 I ate. All meals were high in protien so that might have had something to do wih it. I am not looking to drop pounds so much as gain some muscle. I will be five years out from rny this july and have weighed arround what I do now. Whai is your level of exercise? when I put in my level into myplate it shot my daily cal's up over 3000! I think the only way Im going to hit that mark is junk food........j/k

It considers me "very active"....i dont go nuts but im far from sedentary....
my calories are so high because i eat about 3 ounces of nuts a day and thats like 600 calories right there....I also add peanutbutter and protein powder to my steel cut oats twice a day for about 400 calories per serving ( x 2 )....and then of course the lean meats, poulty and fish I eat with veggies for my main meals...add in the 3-4 servings of skim milk and cheese....you see where I'm going....

Thanks Adam!
We have been eat ting the steel oats so I'll try adding the Pb and protein. It considers me very active also. Have you ever tried dried soy nuts? They are a great snack alternative and are high in protein. Just got turned onto them myself recently. Thanks for all your info. This is just what I was looking for to help me tweak my diet.
