I am 2 1/2 weeks post op and this morning I woke up in a haze. I am a little light headed. I have been making sure I get at least 64 ounces of water. My food intake yesterday was Breakfast: sugar free pudding, Lunch: Cottage Cheese, Dinner: Egg salad. I am taking all my supplements and each meal was 4-6 ounces(I don't measure, I probably should). One thing I didn't do was drink any protien shakes. Is that why I feel this way?

Also, I hate this d*** G-tube, Wednesday night I must have rolled over on it the wrong way and the incision site was sore all day!!!

I was lightheaded a few times during pre-op liquid diet.  A part of it could have been because of the restricted calories.  But another part of it was a med (metformin) I was still on for pre-diabetes.  My glucose had been hovering in the 120-125 range, and a blood test during pre-op time showed that, after drinking a slim-fast, it was 86.  They took me off the metformin that day.

I would check with the surgeon's office for advice.

When I was lightheaded it was because of low blood pressure. Stopped my blood pressure med that day. Call the doc.

At 2-3 weeks post I had the same feeling, my Doc took me off my blood pressure meds and that solved it.

I'm not on blood pressure medicine. I have never had high blood pressure.

It is important to get  your protein but I don't know if it has anything to do with being in a haze.  There has been a LONG debate in the WLS community as to whether we even need protein shakes or bars.  Some surgeons want you to have them at first and wean you off them as you are able to eat more solids.  Others don't ever want you on the supplemental proein.  My surgeon was one of many in favor of the shakes.  A good argument FOR using protein shakes can be found at www.vitalady.com which is a site run by a husband and wife who both had RNYs about 10 years ago.  You can buy your shakes there or elsewhere but they have good information.

The other day I was in the store with my daughter and I got a little light headed and dizzy, it happens from time to time even at 5 months out.  Your body will readjust and work through it.  Remember the foods you ate before probably had a lot of sugar, I know I had a daily dose of sugar before (cookies, ice cream etc...) So your body gets used to having that and when you take it away your body is looking for it.  All part of the journey.  If it doesn't subside, contact your doctor.

I'll throw a few things out.  Add a small amount of salt to your diet.  Also add some foods that are high in potassium; tomatoes, spinach, yogurt, oranges (very small amount), bananas, lima beans.  Couldn't hurt and may help.  Remember protein first, but this other stuff might help.  Brian
