three days post-op

Surgery was at about 3:30 Thursday afternoon - by 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon I was home, and now that my internet connection is back up, here I am.  First day of post-op protiens going reasonably well -- have walked around the house a few times and will probably venture outside this evening -- I'm a little slow getting to vertical position, but once I'm up all is well.  Walk, walk, walk, sip sip, sip.  I'm there!

The amazing thing - I have not had to take a single dose of pain meds since arriving home.  I'm absolutely shocked.  In the hospital, I had a "ball pack" which had meds being delivered right into the stomach/intestine area and was removed right before I left.  The worst sensation I'm having is the stretching of the abdomen as I go from a seated position to a standing position, but that's a momentary sensation that is improving each time I stand up.

More later - have a lot of e-mails and stuff to wade through.  See you on the Loser's Bench.

I'll be here - because it IS a journey.  The race didn't end with the scalpel; that was the starter's pistol for the beginning of the marathon..

I'm 2 weeks out and let me tell you after a week you won't believe the improvement. The first few days out of surgery I was thinking "How the h*ll would I go back to work in two weeks?" But, I was feeling so much better one week out I went back then. Now I feeling great. My doctore insists we keep a G-Tube in for 5-6 weeks so I can't wait for that to come out.

It just keeps getting better, especially when you start using clothes you haven't used in years.

Congrats on your surgery. Your experiences thus far is the same as mine was. It gets better and better. Keep walking and sipping, follow your Doc's and Nutritionists plans, and you 'll do great.

Glad your feeling well.  I never had any pain except the sitting up prt for the first few days.  It goes away pretty quickly.  I had my surgery in January and it was quite cold but going outside and walking made me feel much better.

Best of health.
