NEWS: New WLS procedure
(St. Louis, MO) -- Two doctors at Washington University School of Medicine are being credited with performing the first non-surgical procedure in the United States that restricts the stomach to treat obesity. Dr. J. Christopher Eagan and Dr. Sreeni Jonnalagadda performed the procedure Wednesday using specialized instruments which are passed into the stomach through the mouth. Jonnalagadda explained that the procedure will allow a patient to have the operation in the morning, and return home that afternoon. The procedure was performed as part of the TOGA Pivotal Trial, which is a multi-center study evaluating an incision-free procedure using the TOGA System.
