Hey Ryan,
Welcome to the board.   We are all here to help, and be helped, so ask anything.  Wishing you well.

Nice to meet you, Ryan. Are you a WLS patient, or considering jumping down that rabbit hole?

Welcome Ryan.  As a pre-op person also, I have gotten so much inspiration and info from the guys here.  Before I would only hear of WLS failures.  Here you will see years of success and see what a difference surgery makes in a person's activity level.  Gez, still amazes me to hear of some of the things these guys are able to do now because I am still at the point of trying to step up on a curb without help!  Enjoy!  Michael

Hey guys

First off thank you so much guys for all the responses i have gotten since i posted in the men's forum....as of right now i guess u could say that i am a WLS patient in waiting...i havent heard anything yet back from my Dr's office on whether or not my Insurance has approved me for surgery or not....i guess time will tell...the procedure i am going for is a combination duodenal switch with a sleeve...since my insurance co wont pay for the sleeve my dr is gonna perform an aborted procedure so my insurance will cover it....I am currently going thru the pre op diet right now to lose 15 lbs before surgery can be performed and then i start that lovely liquid diet for 2 wks before surgery(yuck!!!!)
also if any of u guys could help me out that would be great on this matter....i am trying to find a support group to join in Michigan but have turned up not a whole lot so far....and believe me i need a support group....anyway thanks for the many posts and i will keep you all informed in the coming weeks

keep a space on the loser's bench for me

Hi Ryan welcome! The liquid diet isn't that bad just get your head on straight and keep your eye on the prize. Also most hospitals offer support groups and they don't require you to be their patient. I travel a lot so this forum is my support group. We will keep you accountable with a foot up the butt if your honest. C'ya Bob

Mornin' Ryan and welcome to the Men's group!!  You were talking about a support group.  You might want to check with your surgeon.  My surgeon's practice has a support group that meets monthly.  I go to them and use this place to suppliment the other one.  They both work well and complement each other (It's nice to talk to someone face to face every once in a while).  Since you are just starting, you'll find out that the first thing you'll get good at doing is jumping through "hoops" (doing this, and that before surgery).  Sometimes it seems to take forever, but there is a method to the madness.  Welcome aboard, and get ready for a fantastic ride!
