No desire to eat
Thanks for the replies guys. Brian, I'm sure it's not a stricture - I can eat. It's just that I have NO DESIRE whatsoever to eat. Nothing even tastes good to me right now. Once in a while something will sound or smell good, but after one or two bites, it's no good. "Real food" is just not at all appetizing to me right now.
As I said, I am forcing myself to eat at least once a day, and trying to do so at least twice a day. I'm trying my best to get in 60-70 grams of protein with 1/3 to 1/2 coming from "real foods" like eggs, chicken, fish, etc. But it is definitely a chore right now.
I will continue to work on eating "real foods". But at least I know it's not just me and that some others have the same issue.
Thanks again for your replies!
My desire to eat came back when the nerves reconnected, about 6 months out. Up to that time, I literally had to set an alarm clock to remind me.
Even now, 3 years out, I can find myself not eating when I'm busy, moreso than before surgery. There are other times that I can't keep the hunger beast down.
