Bob, Glad to hear you're in the water and working out. It's true, once bodyfat decreases, you have to depend more on hand action and getting that stream of water flowing underneath you to keep you up. The innards tightening is proof that you were working your core muscles. These are required to maintain a stable body position in the water. I alternate between freestayle and backstroke for a good variety of lower back and abdominal work. The two are completely different in the areas of the trunk worked.

I'v been a scuba diver since 1979 .
I haven't had the chance to go diving as cycling is my newest love in my life . I can't wait to go though . One does not have to be able to float to enjoy scuba diving . It might work out better now that I think about it . LOL Enjoy your new found skinnyness !!!
Best wishes
Nick
