Geeesh,   I feel like I went out of town for a while and came back to a community in nuclear fallout. I've been hangin on the VA Board and the Exercise and Fitness board. The VA Board is oh,...90 percent female.  The Exercise Board is probably about 50-50 or 60-40.  I stick my head in on the mens board for a shot of male perspective and a kick in the ,...er,...um, arm.  And had recently kinda backed away from the boards all together as I have been in a kinda transitional funk looking for a change and not sure what it is.   SO,..... yesterday, I check in here and Wow-Weee,.... ain't we got fun?????                    I checked out Quix and its different but an option.                      SO,....can we just get back to being a Mens forum for WLS support.                                                           I see right and wrong on both sides, most over-reaction.  It is OH's board and they have staff and allow us this forum. so lets not bite the hand that feeds us.  It is a mens board but it is public, it is OH not ours, so we should only feel ownership within reason.                                                              Yes if there were no one here, it would not be needed and it would go away but OH would more than likely survive and thrive.  SO lets us use this tremedous tool we have afforded us to communicate and support each other and move on from this unfortumate chain of events befoer more friendships are damaged.  My golly, this board was a HUGE, I mean HUGE resource for me when I had my surgey and it would be a real tragedy to see it gutted , especially by the people I looked up to and respect for their wisdom, humor, advice, support, and counsel.                            I just wish we could have a hard-return so we can separate paragraphs and make our messages a bit more readable,..or was that to keep the edicts at a minimum???  Joe

When you think about it, without us OH would not exist. That being said this too shall pass. WLSers will always come and go. It is like the tide. Just stay and give the support

Hi Joe,

I would say you could call this entity a "hand" or anything that "feeds us". But we can ignore them since we both are generally pretty good at staying out of one another's way.

It is a kind of medium like the phone company in a lot of ways. I like to forget that Ma Bell (or Verizon, ooh!) is there when I'm talking. I guess it's kind of a blessing in a way that they can get their revenue from advertising. I don't think I'd be willing pay for this.

I read you loud and clear about the fitness board. Jeremy has given me a lot of good advice there. I guess he just felt obliged to jump in and take up for his fellow officer the other day. The chicks and other folks who need to be motivated to get going are a lot more manageable too when it comes to exercise than us hardened hardcore fitness buffs. Hate to say it, but those are probably a good source of revenue as well. Not to slight anyone I'm sure that whole lot is done for free. I'm sure no trainer would want to bite the hand that feeds him!

I hear you about the lengths of the posts. I really feel sometimes like I need to get on the phone and talk to these good guys. I can't keep up with all of the long posts and I'm sure a lot of them most feel like they are posting for naught. I just don't respond to most of the stuff.

Hope you are well, working out and achieving your goals.

I keep getting asked if I'm on 'roids (steroids, not hemorrhoids). I just keep getting bigger and bigger. I'm at a university, 46 but  easily the biggest, strongest and fittest bloke here. Might be in part due to a life of no drinking and smoking or going out to bars. Wonder if obstaining from caffeine would really make any difference? Or not thinking evil thoughts about chicks?

Best Wishes,

Dave

The dustup is over for the most part. Things are already calming down. I suspect that a fair amount of those that left in a huff will be back eventually.

JOE, I've been missing you. How is it going? I can see you are looking good. Me...well I made it. I haven't started back to the gym. In my 20's I hit the gym for 4-5 hours a day and bulked up and burned out after 10 years, facing it again is like facing a giant except this time I've got marriage, and children commitments, however no job. My church management placed me on incapacity leave for a couple of years, so I think that when the kids return to school (I got 'em for the summer - love it) I'll join the Y and try to get back into working out. In the meantime I'm trying to work up the nerve to get in our pool and swim every day, the doctors have given me the go ahead but geez...it's like 'what happens if this incision gets soft and splits me wide open like I'm use to seeing it in the past 9 mos. the mind is a terrible thing sometimes. Anyway every day is getting better in all things. Nice to read your posts again. Take care and best wishes, BobM.

Joe...glad to see you back.  I may have aided in the exodus with my post on free speach a couple of days ago.  I was half joking and half serious.  Yet having someone from OH staff talking down to DX really ticked off alot of guys.  I plan on staying here, but if the other board (Q) gets most of the regular people and they create a seperate men's board, I don't see many coming back.  I think the wisest course is to be on both boards like DX.  Many will be back, others won't.  I personally feel no matter what site I am on, I am there to support my obese and formerly obese friends wherever they are.  Brian

Brian,

I think you put into words the way I have been feeling.

Thanks,

You may be right.  I just have trouble getting to this pard. I have joined Quix and been out there some both getting to two boards,...I dunno.  It might be more effort than I got right now.  I'm gonna give it a few days and see where the dust settles.  Lifestyle changes I find keep me away more than in the past, but I miss commo with my buds. Kinda like leaving home or having someone close leave. I guess I need to get to know some of the new guys better too.

I enjoyed your freedom of speech effort and humor. Felt like john Wayne western and Frank Capra Why We Fight documentary all rolled into one.
