Glad to see you drop in on the Men’s Forum! Sorry the thread got locked, or at least, “Sorry for those who’d wish to respond," But cool for you. “It’s good to be the King!” Since you chose to communicate openly in the forum, Rather than through PM or e-mails, I decided to communicate through the same medium. (seems a little un-professional to me, but then, I don’t work here.) I took your advice and I did read the remarks to Paul. Some of them seemed constructive, Others seemed to miss the target, But nearly all seemed to miss the fact that The Thread is basically one that is - From a Woman, on the Men’s Forum, reporting on the achievements of Women, Who have responded to previous requests of- “To share your met goals with OH Magazine, send an email.” I think that sums it up. Therefore, you seem to miss the sense that such a “thread” does beg for comment, and one specifically that asks- “What is this doing HERE?” Although only a handful responded before the thread was Locked I’m sure others thought similarly. “The sex of those mentioned above has no influence on who will be featured next or where we should or should not post this message. This opportunity is being provided by staff who interact with and provide a valuable service to this community everyday.” Well, there have been other “global” postings from OH Magazine posted here Inviting the men to “share their met goals with OH mag…” But I haven’t seen the rush of replies from many here Nor have I, or Do I, see any of them in this Advertisement. Thus, I used a little humor to point out that perhaps an Advertisement (oops sorry, “This opportunity”) Should perhaps not be placed as a sticky posted thread in a forum Where none of its members seem to be involved. Sorry if the sarcasm seemed like scolding, it was not. However, much of your response did seem like scolding. As to targeting this ad here because- “This is a busy forum so we thought you would appreciate the opportunity.” I was quite serious about posting it to the Rants & Raves Forum. That Forum seems to be one of the busiest at OH. Easily 10 to 20 times the number of clicks and views as The Men’s Forum. If it is truly yet another tool to allow peer to peer exchange of information That focuses on “Rants AND RAVES” (rather than just an outlet for those who want to be free to be snarky and use unbridled “adult content”) The why not place it as a Sticky Post There? I think I made a legitimate, constructive comment. Unless of course Rants & Raves is somehow NOT a legitimate Forum And just a commercial ploy to up “the numbers” so advertisers could be charged more. If that is the case, then I guess my comment was both naively hopeful And negative by default. When you say- “either take advantage of what has been provided or go on about your cheerful way.” Does this mean, No discussion!  It’s my way or the Highway!!”  ? Previous Directors of Member Services have followed that policy By making their work here Personal rather than business, And the result has been the creation of Other WLS Discussion Boards Successfully launching as the result. You have decreed- “Responding to staff in a negative manner as done above, will NOT be tolerated.” How may we respond to the staff in response to a thread they have posted? If a staff member posts on the Main Board, may we respond to them there? If a specific recipe from Michelle could be improved with an additional ingredient, Can we suggest improvements?  Can we use humor, Or will only straight forward facts “…be tolerated?” Your position here seems to be- “My way or the highway.  Love it or Leave it!” Such a position did not serve the previous Director of Member Services. My point being, if a posted thread is a posted thread, then let it be so. If it’s an Ad?  Then let it be an Ad.  I like the flashy Ads, they look great. Maybe Nikki could post one at the top of this page… Oh Wait, she has! Dude, really…..  Back at ya with the “time better spent” advice. Lighten up, Don’t jump to the knee jerk drama pose, and lock a thread when someone offers a comment that you don’t agree with. Roll with it. You really do need to find the time to drop by more often. As Director of Member Services, Take the Opportunity to check out the herd here now and then. 95% of ALL the Doctors advertising on the site, Are Men. Your primary Advertisers? With the exception of a very few… The CEO’s are Men. Some of the Members of OH are Men.  Many of those are here. Most are successful business men themselves. I’d recommend that occasionally listening to the council of Even these grumpy old dudes, and the occasional humorous suggestion might serve you well.  I’d say, give yourself a break. “Deep cleansing breath.” Listen to the Members when they offer suggestions of how to serve them better. Have the professional distance to hear what they are suggesting (even through humor) and don’t let it be personal. The previous Director of Member Services let this place get to her. Be a Guy!  Don’t let the place get to You. Thanks for all you must do behind the scenes. But one last bit of Advice from an Old dude? Drop in more than every 11 months, and when you do Don’t show up just to reprimand those who offer council. They may stop all together. (if Nikki’s feelings were hurt, I apologize, but I would still advise that she try another tack to catch the hearts and minds of the Men here than using an Ad, posing as a thread.  I also suggested she check the theory by posting it to an even more popular forum, to see if my observation was unfounded or if it might stick out as a sore thumb.  If I communicated anything beyond that, it was not my intention.) I was annoyed when the thread was locked and I also did a PM to Jeremy.  As I come back to the Men's Forum now, the glaring part of the title of the post is that there is no indication that it is coming from OH magazine.  It just looks like one woman complimenting 3 other women on their successes.  Until I read it, I had no idea that Nikki even worked for OH.  Paul had a considered and patient (and potent?) post.  Any suggestion that he go to the Rants and Raves Forum are absurd.  That's a wild group there out for blood.  I asked Jeremy and the other male staffers at Obesityhelp.com to contribute to our Forum. 

I'll say it again... What He Said!!! “Responding to staff in a negative manner as done above, will NOT be tolerated.” I'm sure going forward there will only be positive responses from the locker room to the OH staff.

oh boy, a place to respond since that thread was blocked by hitler. i'm so glad there's a bunch of tight asses who squeeze their cheeks so hard they could hold a quarter watching out for us. well, at least once a year they come by to do their obligatory scolding. we are such children right? i was so lost without their outstanding guidance letting me know what to say, do and post. I have spent some time trying to figure out if I should take the long elegant Dx type response to this whole thing or hit the short version.  ...I'll go short. First and foremost, why lock it?  Just get rid of the god damn thing. Next, busting the balls of Dx in the Men's forum is like trying to fight Jesus in Heaven.  I have never seen any staff member put out as much info or give as much support as he or Paul, for that matter. I lost my train of thought but we as a group have decided that we don't want this crap posted.  If OH is so uptight that they must object to an objection, I guess there isn't much we can do.  They have the power to pull posts, lock posts, suspend the horrible rule breakers and rule with an iron fist.   All we really want is to be left alone.  I saw a Hiter reference earlier and it really does feel that way around here. I respect Dx more than anyone I have never actually meet and busting his balls over something so silly is really barking up the wrong tree! Is that post gone yet?

...as a matter of fact, I respect him so much that I read every word of his post and he knows how hard that is.
