Actually, the gal that played her and Bob Crane ("Hogan") began dating soon after she first appeared on the series ..  (knowing what a horndog he allegeldy was and how hot she was, no surprise there!) ..    &;-)

Banner may not be a "Jewish name" and it may not have been his original name, but John Banner was an Austrian Jew who was incarcerated in a concentration camp (most likely as one of the 20,000 German and Austrian Jewish men rounded up and incarcerated on Kristallnacht -- November 9th-10th, 1938) prior to being given permission to leave Austria.  So his family didn't commit the crime of having a relative in America, they just comitted the crime of being Jewish.

Schultz was Jewish... you'd think he could have helped Hogan and the boys along a little more!

Yeah, well I guess his general incompetence was a help to the boys.  And Klink -- Werner Klemperer was the son of famed conductor Otto Klemperer and the family fled Germany in 1935,  Otto was Jewish and that made Werner a Mischlinge (half-Jew) of the first degree.  Most likely had they stayed in Germany, Werner would have taken a train trip to a lovely Polish countryside camp.

Robert Clary, who played Corporal Louis LeBeau in Hogan's Heroes, was a French Jew who was deported to Buchenwald in 1942 along with TWELVE members of his family.  He was the only survivor.

Wow   very interesting (and the other post you made about Banner) ..  thanks for that .. !   Trivia time:  there was a funny WWII movie that was made shortly before Hogan's Heroes debuted.  Banner, Werner-Kelmperer and the guy that played General Bulkarter (and I think Clary - LeBeau) were all in it ..  I can't remember the name of it ..  Does anyone remember it?  I have a hunch that movie led to the idea for HH and some of the actors to use for it.   Now I'm wondering if maybe all of them met someone before the movie, possibly as members of a support group for survivors of the Holicaust?
