Try and follow Doctor's orders. Allow the healing process to work. If you had to break down and eat something solid, I would say try a very small amount of a good quality chicken or turkey vegetable soup. Remember if you try and gulp your food...you'll be sorry. One day you'll do it without thinking and know what I'm talking about. A very fast learning curve if you try and cut corners. Brian
I have been told that the better you follow Dr orders as to diet for the first year post op, the more likely you will not have difficultly tolerating a wider variety of foods in the long run. These Doc's know what works best with their particular type of surgery and you would do best to follow these instructions as closely as possible.

My Fellow Texan,
Your first solids should be of the mushy variety. Check your Dr's plan and see when you can go on soft foods. When the time comes might I suggest grits w/ some cheese mixed in. Maybe a boiled, or poached, egg mashed up and my all time personal favorite refried beans also mixed with cheese.
Guacamole is also quite good but depending on the contents it may have you dumping big time.

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!
I don't know your WLS teams requirements. Mine were 1 week liquid, 3 weeks puree, 8 weeks soft food, then solid. So if your in the puree stage I found Fat Free Oatmeal, made with skim milk & Carnation instant milk gave me a warm heavy meal with about 22g protein. Also Instant grits and cream of wheat, made the same way. Also if you like spicy food I found Bumble Bee Spicy Thai Tuna damn good. Hope that helps. C'ya Bob
