Things are getting better already!
A few days ago, I posted about finding out about having atrial fib and the annoyance and cost of having my coumadin (warfarin in generic form) monitored. I went for my visit yesterday and don't have to go back for a week. Yeah! I mentioned that I love blueberries and this is blueberry season in NJ. They said I can have them as long as I consistently have them--about a pint a day-- and they'll adjust the coumadin accordingly. Yeah, again! And, best of all, even though we know that my wife will definitely lose her job, she found out yesterday that it will be at the end of the year. She works for a division of GE that is being bought by another company. I mention GE because they have been a fantastic employer. She works in insurance (who knew GE owned insurance companies?). They are going to give her 1 week severance for every year worked which comes out to 12 weeks in her case, plus full Medical for 1 year from the date last on the payroll with GE picking up the full cost,i.e., she doesn't have to pay any more premiums. And, yesterday she found out that, if she's still on the payrolll as of 12-31-2008 as it seems she will be, then she will also get 3 weeks vacation pay for 2009. I can hardly believe a company would be that generous to employees that are being laid off in a non-union shop. But, we've seen it happen again and again as they've laid off other employees in the past. So, if you get the chance to work for GE it may be a very good thing.
Glad to hear things are better. I had a brother-in-law who took blood thinners and his advice was to be consistent with foods that affect PT-time and monitor it regularly. Also nice to hear about a decent employer.
Happy 4th.
