Initial WLS impressions...right or wrong?
Don, GoToMan --
Good to meet ya!
Don, I'll continue to check 'em all out...find what resonates and makes sense FOR ME...thanks.
GoTo-- You're right re: not being too quick to dismiss an option, or even doing the "spreadsheet decision matrix" thing. I'm going to slow it down a notch, read & learn, hear from some folks and go to some Doc Seminars. Your post really resonates with me, and I thank you for shooting straight!

Hey Dan.....
One thing to remember while you check things out...and I'm sure it's already ringing in your ears...
as it should....
whatever you choose....
IT IS A TOOL, NOT A MAGIC BULLET!!!!!!
Bubba, no matter how much $$$ that you throw at this...there is no walk in the park...
(now I can make this next statement 'cause I'm from NC...mountain type...)
If any of those hillbillies from Georgia...start that..."this is the taking the easy way out...."
We got a few country boys here that speak their language..let us talk to them...
This is not taking the easy way out...
You got a mountain...you need to get to the other side...if you clime the mountain, or dig a hole in the middle...you got a lot of work a head of you...
stay in touch
Russ
Thanks Russ!
I *believe* I have a pretty decent foundation laid, as follows:
I am committed to a lifestyle of working out 3-4x/week (or more) for the rest of my life, I've been eating an Atkins-style low carb way for 2-3 years now and while it hadn't done jack for weight loss, it's kept me out of almost certain diabetes had I NOT been doing so. So it seems to me that my head is at least in the right ballpark, even if not quite at home plate right now. Had some other health challenges with the events leading up to the hip replacement 1/25/07 and the following months, getting pried loose from Dr. Feelgood, but I'm over a year out and doing great. This (the weight loss) is really the only thing that's kicked my tail despite by best efforts, so with the WLS combined with good support, the right lifestyle of exercise and nutrition, I hope to overcome this... ...and I don't know, maybe even post a hardcore nekkid-butt picture like my big bro, GoToMan!
Best regards,
Dan
