Anybody done any travel overseas and had to deal with malaria meds? Any issues with maladrone and the pouch?  Have to go to India for business trip and am concerned about food choices and "travelers revenge" in view of modified RNY plumbing.

Any thoughts, experience, advice welcome1

Thanks,

I travel internationally frequently.  And, I have been to India many times. I travel mostly in the larger cities, so I have not needed malaria meds.  However, I have many vaccanations for various things like tyhpoid (for flood prone areas), tetnus/diptheria, quadrovalent mennogitis, etc.  If you visit a site like http://www.internationalsos.com, you can get some advice on what might be needed for the region you are traveling in. If you don't have supplemental insurance, that company can provide it at a good price.  The medical evacuation coverage is particularly good.  India is not known for good medical service.  And, they re-use needles.  So, if I get sick there, I want to be evaced out asap. Avoid the water.  Drink only sealed bottled water.  And, have them open the bottle in front of you.  Do not accept a bottle that has been opened already.  I also recommend eating at only five star hotels.  It is worth the price.  It is risky to eat out.  You might also want to take snacks with you. I have been traveling to India for about 21 years.  The first time I visited I was really sick.  But I have been so cautious that I have avoided illness. Good luck.
